Michael V. Edens, 69, died on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019, at 9:34 p.m. at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton.

He was born on Aug. 1, 1950 in McGuffey, Ohio, to the late Adam Francis and Doris (Baughman) Edens. On May 5, 1974, he married Barbara Elaine Gentis and she survives in Qunicy.

Michael retired after 29 ½ years from CompAir  LeRoi as a machinist and inspector.  He spent six years in the Ada Unit of the Ohio National Guard.  Michael was a 1969 graduate of Ada High School. He coached Summer Youth Sports in Quincy and DeGraff for 15 years and was a former 4-H advisor.

Leona Pope, 83, died on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019, at 11:45 a.m. at her residence in Ada.

She was born on March 10, 1936, in Magoffin County, Kentucky, to the late Burton and Della (Marshall) Patton. Leona was previously married to James Pope on Oct. 19, 1955, and they divorced, he preceded her in death in 2016.  

Leona was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Ada Pentecostal Church and played the tambourine at church. She also enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and playing the spoons. Leona loved her grandkids, family and her dog, Sissy.   

Loyd L. Ashbrook, 81, died on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019, at 2:51 p.m. at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

He was born on March 5, 1938, in Delaware, Ohio, to the late John and Mabel (Stockwell) Ashbrook. On Dec. 3, 1970, Loyd married Thelma I. Little and she preceded him in death on Nov. 2, 2007.

Loyd worked for the Ada Park. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served from 1954 to 1957.

 Loyd is survived by his children: Lloyd F. Ashbrook Jr. of Ada, Carl L. Ashbrook of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Tina (William) McCrary of Green Bay, Wisconsin; two grandchildren: Richard Caskey and Kaydence McCrary; and a great grandson, Aydin Caskey.

Jackie L. “Jack” Jordan, 69, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019 at 3:15 a.m. at his residence outside of Alger.

He was born on Feb. 14, 1950, in Kenton to Richard “Dick” and Margery (Canaan) Jordan.  His father is deceased and his mother survives in Ada.. On May 10, 1991 Jack married Deanna Fry and she survives in Alger

Jack was a 1968 graduate of Upper Scioto Valley High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1969 and served on the USS Suffolk County during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged in 1975.

Nancy L. McBride, 81, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019, at 3:02 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima, Ohio.

She was born in Marion Township, Hardin County Ohio, on May 4, 1938, to the late Jack and Della (Montgomery) Risner. 

Nancy had an associate degree from a Dental Technology School in California.

She is survived by two sons: John Oren Thomas of Alger and Douglas Dwight Thomas, two sisters: Bessie Vincent of Celina and Lydia Scott of Lakeview and 3 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Bureeda Hackworth, 95, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at Bridge Hospice Blanchard Valley Health System, Findlay, Ohio.

She was born in Paintsville, Kentucky, on June 21, 1924, to the late Lacy and Cloie (LeMaster) Brown.  On Aug. 31, 1943, Bureeda married Earl Hackworth and he died on Oct. 19, 2012.  Earl and Bureeda were married for 69 years.

Bureeda was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Lonesome Valley United Baptist Church of Alger.  She was a member of the Hardin County Home Extension Club and a member of the former Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #6 of Ada.
