Christopher Wren 1960 - 2019

Christopher A. "Chris" Wren, 58, died at 8:03 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2019, at his residence. 

Chris was born April 24, 1960, in Lima, to Gary and Trudy (Sellers) Wren. On Sept. 21, 2013 he married Carla Sue (Tibbs) Wren who survives in Bluffton, Ohio. 

Chris was a 1978 graduate of Bath High School. He retired from Time Warner Cable after 30 years of service.

Patricia Allen 1936-2019

She operated Allen's Bar and Grill in Alger

Patricia P. Allen, 82, died on Thursday, March 7, 2019, at 2:42 a.m. at Hardin Hills Health Center, Kenton.

She was born on May 8, 1936, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Joseph and Louise (Plummer) Thompson. On May 28, 1964, Patricia married Kash Allen and he survives in Alger.

Patricia was owner and operator of Allen’s Bar and Grill in Alger.  She loved her cats and enjoyed gardening. 

Also surviving is a son, David Allen of Alger; two daughters: Debbie (Ronald) Frazier of Ada and Julia (Steve) McClure of Alger; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jeannie Myers of Lansing, Mich.

Jack C. Brown, Jr., 1963 - 2019

Jack C. Brown, Jr., 55, died on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at 12:38 p.m. at University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center, Beachwood, Ohio.

He was born on July 10, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois, to Jack C. and Edna Kay (Rhodes) Brown, Sr. and they survive in Madisonville, Tenn.  On July 12, 1985 Jack married Tami Kindle and she survives in Ada.

Jack worked as a truck driver for the Risinger Trucking Co. He was a 1981 graduate of Kenton High School.

Hillard Nickles worked at Rudolph Foods for 50 years

Hillard Nickles, 82, of Harrod, Ohio, formerly of McGuffey, died on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at 8:20 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.

He was born on Aug. 16, 1936, in Mousie, Kentucky, to the late Hubert and Lucy (Wicker) Nickles. On July 26, 1958, Hillard married Halie J. Conley and she survives in Harrod.

Hillard retired after working for 50 years for Rudolph Foods, Westminster.  He attended the McGuffey Freewill Baptist Church.  He was a member of the McGuffey Conservation Club and a former member of the McGuffey Fire Department.  Hillard enjoyed Sprint Car Racing and Bluegrass Music.  He loved his grandchildren and spending time with his family.

Mark Garver worked as a machinist at BPR Manufacturing

Mark S. Garver, 63, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, at 5:32 a.m. at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

He was born on June 29, 1955, in Lima to the late Albert “Bud” and Mae Ann (Evans) Garver. On July 6, 2007, Mark married Mary Fox who survives in Ada.

Mark worked as a machinist at BPR Manufacturing in Lima.  He was an avid New England Patriots fan. Mark loved to go to garage sales and to collect antiques.  He enjoyed history and doing genealogy. The family would especially like to thank the caretakers at St. Rita’s on 4A, 7E, and 5K.

Glenna Hover Kriewald funeral service March 1

Glenna Hover Kriewald passed away peacefully Feb. 19, 2019. She was born to Scot and Martha Hover near West Newton, Ohio, on Dec. 15, 1931.  She graduated in 1949 from Harrod High School.  She earned a nursing degree from Lima Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1953.

Glenna married Don Smith of Harrod, Ohio.  They spent several years working in the Quaker City area in southern Ohio.  In 1960, they moved to Mesa, Arizona.  Don was a prison guard near Florence and Glenna was a surgical nurse for an eye doctor.
