Marathon presents check to university’s Mu Delta Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi

Marathon Petroleum donated $1,000 to Ohio Northern University’s Mu Delta Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi on Thursday, Nov. 6. Ryan Abraham, president of the Beta Alpha Psi ONU chapter, and Andria Beehler-Evans, vice president, accepted the generous donation.

Abraham, who expressed his gratitude on behalf of the chapter, said “These funds will truly benefit our chapter, allowing us to make various purchases that we otherwise would not be able to make. Our chapter will use the donated funds to offer our members opportunities to network with financial and business leaders as well as provide our chapter with resources to effectively operate on a daily basis.”

Visitation Thursday, funeral Friday for Carla Dysert

Carla M. Dysert of Ada, 56, died at 8:42  a.m. on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, in an auto accident.

She was born on June 25, 1958, to Carl and Donna (Briggs) Nazor in Shelby, Ohio. Her father preceded her in death and her mother survives in Mansfield, Ohio. She attended high school at Shelby High School. She went on to attend Eastern Baptist College in Philadelphia, Pa.

On Aug. 26, 1977, she married Greg Dysert who survives in Ada.

Also surviving are two daughters and one son: Heather Dysert (West Paar) Long Island, N.Y., Brooke Carter (Jason) Hilliard, Ohio, and Zac Dysert Denver, Colo.

Cleveland Clinic’s chief pharmacy officer visits ONU College of Pharmacy

Scott Knoer, chief pharmacy officer of the Cleveland Clinic, shared his expertise concerning the future of pharmacy and the vital role of the pharmacist with students and faculty of the Ohio Northern University’s Raabe College of Pharmacy on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Knoer’s daylong visit to ONU included a meeting with faculty to discuss future pharmacy practice plans for the Cleveland Clinic, including ways to engage students to an even greater extent in patient care services. In addition, he met with Steven Martin, dean of the Raabe College of Pharmacy, and Daniel DiBiasio, ONU president.

Reichart's host to Thursday cash mob

The Buy Ada First Committee is having a cash mob at Reichart's, 111-113 S. Main St., from 3-5 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 20.

The cash mob takes place at one of Ada’s most prominent retai stores.

"Fred Reichert welcomed our invitation to host the cash mob. Fred hosted the first-ever cash mob in Ada back in October of 2012,” said Heather Cox, member of the committee.
Cox said that to make the cash mob even more inviting to customers, Reichert’s will offer 10 percent off all items purchased during the cash mob.

Ada High School athletes excelled on the playing field and in the classrooom this fall. Here is the list of Ada athletes who were named scholar athletes by the Northwest Conference.

The criteria for gaining scholar athlete recognition by the conference is as follows:
Gold Level: Varsity letter earned in the sport and a grading period GPA of 3.5 or above
Silver Level: Varsity letter earned in the sport and a grading period GPA of 3.00 to 3.49
