Joe Banks title belongs to ONU

ONU indoor track team won the Joe Banks Invitational Track Meet they hosted Feb. 7 at the Sports Center, besting 10 other colleges and universities from Indiana and Ohio.

The Sports Center was a beehive of activity from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. as hundreds of athletes competed in many events.

Wellness clinic at ReStore moved to March 7

ReStore Community Center, Main Street, Ada, will host a free wellness clinic from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, March 7, featuring Dr. Katie Benson. The clinic will focus on chair exercises and nutrition. (This program was originally set for Feb. 21.)

Dr. Benson has been serving Marysville and the surrounding communities since 2008.  She and her husband, Josh, are natives of Hardin and Union counties, respectively.

Dr. Benson is a graduate of Ridgemont High School.

Having graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Findlay with a bachelor’s degree in Science, Dr. Benson received her doctorate from Palmer College of Chiropractic, also graduating Magna Cum Laude.

Bluffton Pediatrics holds open house on Feb. 22

Bluffton Pediatrics, 505 E. Jefferson St., Suite A., Bluffton, will hold an open house from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 22, according to Beth Bish, CNP.

Bluffton Pediatrics opened Jan. 5, and Beth A. Bish, CNP, pediatric nurse pracitioner, is co-owner along with her husband, Jim Bish, RN. It is now accepting new patients.

Other staff members are Kat Hunnaman, RN., clinical director; Christine Clymer, executive director; and Barb Hammell, patient liason.

"Bluffton Pediatrics is an independently owned and operated pediatric primary care office," Beth Bish explained to The Icon. "We want to be a medical home for your child."

Patricia Helms 1936-2015

Patricia Ann Helms, 78, died on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, at 3 p.m. at her residence in Ada.

She was born on April 24, 1936, in Lima, Ohio, to Jacob Arthur and Margaret Marie (Houser) Binkley and they preceded her in death. Patricia married on Nov. 6, 1954 Victor L. Helms and he died on Oct. 6, 2009.

Patricia was a homemaker. She was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church of Ada. 

Pioneer Aktion Club will award three high school scholarships

The Pioneer Aktion Club has announced that this year the club will award three scholarships of $250 each to high school seniors who lives or goes to school in Hardin County. 

Applications can be picked up at Harco Industries, Simon Kenton School, or a copy can be obtained at http://www.hardindd.org.

Delta Sigma Phi Polar Plunge Saturday

Want to take a dip on Saturday?

Join the brothers of Delta Sigma Phi in their 4th annual Polar Plunge.

The event will be located on the east side of Polar Bear Pond in the middle of Fraternity Circle from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 21.

This event is to help raise money in support of the American Red Cross. Every brother of Delta Sigma Phi will jump in the water in support.

If you're brave enough to jump in then it will cost you some warmth and a small fee of $10. If you are brave enough to support then you will also receive a free t-shirt specific to this years event. If you do not want to jump in then you can purchase a shirt for $13.
