Sharon Kay Fields worked for Ohio Northern

Sharon Kay Fields, age 81, of Ada, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Blanchard Place, Kenton.

Sharon was born on October 28, 1941, in Kenton, Ohio to Carl and Freda (Kaeck) Mabrey.  Her father preceded her in death.  Her mother and step-father, Jim Glock, also preceded her in death.  She was previously married to Glenn Fields, who preceded her in death.

Baby quilt donation by local Soroptimist International

Soroptimist International of Kenton/Hardin County donated hand made baby quilts to Safe Haven of Hardin County.

Club 52 kick-off announced by United Way

Hardin County United Way has announced, "We are excited to be kicking off our new CLUB 52 campaign. For just a $52 dollar donation, you can be a part of an exclusive group.

"All club members will receive a limited-edition keychain, which will connect you with discounts at local businesses. We are thrilled to be partnering with many amazing local businesses who are joining the United Way family.

University surveys graduates on job placement

The most recent full-time job and graduate school placement rates for Ohio Northern University students who graduated in 2022 was at 96%, holding relatively steady compared to the 2021 placement rate of 97%. The numbers are derived from a survey of the most recent graduates, 95% of whom responded.

Powder Buff provides Junior Prom fundraising twist

At 6:30 p.m. on  Friday, March 10, the Ada High School junior class will host Powder Buff in the Varsity Gym.

A twist on Powder Puff football, it will feature a multi-game volleyball competion:

  • Freshman vs. Junior boys
  • Sophomor vs. Senior boys
  • Consolation game
  • Championship game

Admission is $2. There will also be a bake sale.

Business plan competition announced by BCE

Classes begin March 7

The Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs (BCE) has announced the return of the Small Business Information Series and Ropp Triplett Business Plan Competition for 2023. These events are designed to provide support and resources for local entrepreneurs and small business owners in the Bluffton community and surrounding areas.

The Ropp Triplett Business Plan Competition is open to any entrepreneur with a business idea or a business that has been in operation for less than 3 years. Participants will have the opportunity to compete for over $5,000 in prizes, as well as automatic entry for the Regional Pitchfest 2023 sponsored by the Small Business Development Center at Rhodes State College (SBDC), the Lima Chamber of Commerce Foundation, and the Walter C. Potts Center for Entrepreneurship, with over $6,000 in prizes.
