ONU hosts April 1 National Robotic Football Tournament

Design and strategy will intersect with competitive intensity on a decidedly nontraditional gridiron as Ohio Northern University hosts the day-long National Robotic Football Tournament and Combine on Saturday, April 1. The event is free and open to the public.

Harding Highway Walmart evacuated on March 27

On Monday, March 27, 2023 at approximately 4:26 p.m., Allen County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to 2400 Harding Hwy (Walmart Super Center) in reference to a man making threats and refusing to leave the store.

Due to the nature of Mr. Killings’ threats, the store was evacuated. Deputies arrived within minutes and immediately took James E. Killings (DOB 5-16-1991) into custody without incident.

Killings was booked into the Allen County Jail on charges of Criminal Trespass and Inducing Panic.

April 1 Easter Egg Hunt at Vancrest of Ada

The fourth Annual Vancrest of Ada Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 2:00 p.m. on April 1. The event is open to Vancrest residents, staff families and the community. 

Age Groups
2:15 p.m. Peewee Hoppers (0-2 years old)
2:30 p.m. Cotton Tails (3-5 years old)
2:45 p.m. Young Bunnies (6-8 years old)
3:00 p.m. Roger Rabbits (60+ years old)

The Easter Bunny will Hop on over to visit during egg hunting.

Be sure to bring your own Easter basket to fill with your eggs. Vancrest is located at 600 W North Ave.

I spy: Shop hop opportunities

The Icon recently hopped into Beatitudes to snap a picture of Easter items. The window display was full of sweet seasonal images and bargains. The thrift store-community center is open Tuesday-Friday from noon-5:00 p.m. and Saturday 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

 

Funeral arrangements for Kathleen Mae (Keith) Bickel are pending

Kathleen Mae (Keith) Bickel was finally reunited with the love of her life on March 26, 2023.  She was a beloved wife for twenty-eight years to Mark Bickel. Kathleen lived a long, happy life and died peacefully in her sleep at Hospice of Dayton.

Ada Schools cancel on March 28 due to fog

Ada Exempted Village Schools announed at 8:45 a.m. on March 28 that school is cancelled due to fog. Students will have a remote learning day. Assignments for students will be posted by noon.
