Bulldogs baseball loss vs. Allen East

The Ada High School baseball team led early but lost a 13-6 seesaw slugfest to Allen East in a Northwest Conference makeup game Wednesday evening, April 19, at War Memorial Park.

Ada fell to 4-7 overall and 0-4 in the NWC with the defeat.  AE improved to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in the NWC after the win.

Bulldogs softball takes down Allen East

Playing at home, the Ada High School softball team defeated local rival Allen East 7-3 in a key Northwest Conference contest Wednesday evening, April 19.

With the victory, Ada remained tied for first in the conference standings with perennial power Crestview at 4-0.

The Bulldogs record improved to a sparkling 13-1 overall after the win. The Mustangs dropped to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in NWC play with the loss.

Bulldogs tennis win vs. Lima Senior

LIMA–The visiting Ada High School tennis team defeated Lima Senior 4-1 Wednesday evening, April 19, for their first win of the spring.

The Bulldogs won all three singles matches and the first doubles bout to take the match convincingly and improve to 1-2.

Ada hosts drop-off site on Medication Disposal Day

SATURDAY, APRIL 22 • 9 AM-NOON

Bring your expired and unused prescriptions and over-the-counter medications to one of the locations listed below and law enforcement officers will dispose of these medications in a safe, legal and environmentally conscious manner.

+ Unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medication, medicated lotions and sunscreens.

+ ONLY medications from personal homes will be accepted. No medications from physician, dentist or veterinary offices will be accepted.

+ NO used syringes will be accepted.

Ada School Board 2023-2024 planning session, part 2

On March 30 the Ada School Board held a 2+ hour planning meeting to discuss buildings and grounds, extracurriculars, finance, academics and safety measures. Administrators and the fiscal officer provided information on numerous programs and the expected costs of improvements and other changes. 

The second half of the meeting is covered in this article.

SCHOOL SAFETY GRANT
The schools will improve playground security with privacy fencing on the north side by State Route 81.

A Spoonful of Sugar

Julie Andrews was the beloved Mary Poppins in the 1964 Walt Disney film. One of the songs is A Spoonful of Sugar to encourage the children to take a daunting task and make it fun.  Interestingly, Julie Andrews was not a fan of the original work titled The Eyes of Love. Disney asked Richard and Robert Sherman to rearrange the song into a snappier version.  

Robert Sherman got the idea after realizing his children received their polio vaccine. He asked if the polio shot hurt. The children were a bit startled since they reported the vaccine was in a sugar cube. The inspiration was born.

I remember standing in the school hallway waiting for my sugar cube with the vaccine. You may be thinking this article is about taking your medicine appropriately. Although a great topic, I will save it for another day. I want to discuss sugar!
