Irene Florence Caudill was a homemaker

Irene Florence Caudill, age 98, of Harrod, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 9, 1924, in Bonanza, Kentucky to the late Harrison and Lula (Whitaker) Wright.  On July 22, 1941, Irene married Powell Caudill and he preceded her in death on August 16, 1999. 

Irene is survived by her son, William Caudill.

She was preceded in death by her four sisters: Josie Hughes, Lee Prater, Nora Ramey and Myrtle Holbrook; and nine brothers: Sammie, Burl, Willie, Fred, Herman, Hershel, Brice, Lawrence and Lonnie Wright.

Gary Allen Brown taught and coached at Bluffton High School

Gary Allen Brown, age 84, of Ada, was welcomed into the arms of his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on April 25, 2023, at Lima Memorial Health System, surrounded by his family. 

He was born on December 15, 1938, at home in Ada, Ohio to the late Russel Allen “Bud” and Ruth Marie (Klingler) Brown.  On May 27, 1961, Gary married Marsha Staley, his wife of 62 years and she survives in Ada.  

Bulldog tennis battles Bath on Sr. Night

The Ada High School tennis team hosted powerful Bath on Senior Night and battled hard before losing a tough 4-1 decision Wednesday evening, April 26, at the park courts.

The Bulldogs fell to 2-5 with the difficult defeat.

Celebrate with Kan Du Group on April 28

The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce is inviting the community to a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for Kan Du Group. The ribbon cutting will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 28. The Ada facility is located at 4171 ST RT 235. Learn more at Kan Du Group.

Sandra Decker was a secretary at Ohio Northern

Sandra S. “Sandy” Decker, age 67, of Alger, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at 9:28 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health Systems.

She was born on October 6, 1955, in Lima, Ohio to Bernard N. and Lois M. (Johnson) Shaw. Her father preceded her in death on October 16, 2018, and her mother survives in Alger. On September 26, 1987, Sandra married Jimmy “JD” Decker, Jr. and he survives in Arlington.

Also surviving are her two daughters: Sarah (Shawn Grubb) Decker of Ada and Jessica (Michael Briley) Decker of Alger; a granddaughter, Syddaleigh Sioux Briley; two brothers: Terry (Sigrid) Shaw of Albuquerque, NM and Alan (Lisa) Shaw of Harrod; two sisters: Mary (Charles) Melvin of Carleton, MI and Cheryl Saunders of White River Junction, VT.
