Bassitt repeats on All-NWC softball 1st team

Ada sophomore standout Jenna Bassitt was named first team All-Northwest Conference in softball for the second straight year in voting conducted by the league coaches Tuesday evening in Delphos.

A special inaugural signing day was held at Ada Schools on May 18 for incoming Bulldog football freshmen to play on the fall 2023 varsity squad. On Saturday May 13, we had tickets to see the Cleveland Guardians play the Los Angeles Angels at Progressive Field.  The first 10,000 fans received replicas of the Golden Gloves being awarded that night to four Guardians players.  This was the first time in franchise history for four players to receive the award in one year.  The Gold Glove trophies were given to outfielders Steven Kwan and Myles Straw as well as pitcher Shane Bieber.  The final award went to Andres Gimenez for his performance at second base.  

Safety improvements on Buckeye Ave to be discussed in June 13 public meeting

The Village of Ada will hold a special council and public meeting to discuss proposed safety improvements for the intersection of Buckeye Avenue and Main Street by making Buckeye one-way traffic traveling east from Gilbert Street to Johnson Street  and a proposed change to angle parking.

The meeting will take place Tuesday, June 13, 2023 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Community Health Professionals Building, 1200 S. Main St., Ada 

This meeting will be held for the purpose of discussion and receiving public input on changing Buckeye Avenue starting at N. Gilbert through the Main Street intersection and continuing to N. Johnson from two-way traffic to one-way traffic traveling in an easterly direction.

The discussion will also include angle and reverse angle parking for the two-block area. The meeting will include information from the Ada Police Department, traffic study information from Choice One Engineering and estimated costs for the project.

The public is welcomed and encouraged to attend.

Bulldog tennis ace Jameson ousted at districts

Ada High School senior tennis player Brendan Jameson lost in the Div. II district tournament in the round of 16 at Port Clinton Wednesday, May 17.

Jameson lost hist first match 6-1, 6-3 to Huron sophomore Mason Schindley to be eliminated from the competition. 

“I am proud of Brendan making history at Ada and going to districts,” said Bulldog coach Tyler Christoff. “There are matches he would want back, matches he’s proud of. Ultimately, I am extremely proud of the growth he made this year.”

Top-four finishers at the district event make it to the state tournament at Columbus May 25-26.

Ada Ministerial Association hosts 2023 Baccalaureate, May 25

As another year at Ada High School comes to a close, the Ada Ministerial Association will be hosting the 2023 Ada High School Baccalaureate service at 7:00 p.m. on May 25 in the English Chapel on the campus of Ohio Northern University.
