Veterans' Breakfast at Ada Schools Nov. 11

The Ada Schools will hold their annual Veterans’ Breakfast this year on Thursday, November 11 at 8:00 a.m. in the school cafeteria. The schools desire to honor all deserving veterans and their families. They will offer the traditional breakfast with a short program. However, if any veterans are uncomfortable attending in person because of health concerns, they will offer a pick up option. Any who desire the pick up options should tell the school when they make reservations.  

ONU ResLife Drive-Thru Trick or Treat October 19

Ohio Northern University ResLife Trick or Treat Drive-Thru is Tuesday, October 19 from 5-7 pm.

Attendees are asked to remain in their car except for a photo opportunity with spooky decorations by the Freed Center.

Enter on College Ave., exit on Lima Ave.

1971 Ada HS NWC Champs reunion October 22

On October 22, at the last Ada HS football game, members and coaches from the undefeated 1971 Ada HS NWC Championship team will be present to celebrate the 50th anniversary of that season. At least 30 members of the team along with the Head Coach, Gary Ricker and two of the assistant coaches, Tom Dearth and Hal Honegger will be in attendance. 

The evening will begin with a team dinner in the park. The team and coaches will be introduced at halftime of the Ada High School football game at War Memorial Park Stadium.

McGuffey Fall Festival October 17

The McGuffey Memories Historical Society is hosting a Fall Festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 17 at the McGuffey Community Building, 404 Courtright St. All money raised will go towards future events and providing free activities for the community.

Fall Festival activities for children include

  • Pumpkin painting
  • Corn pit play area
  • S’mores

Pre-sale chicken dinners are $12.00 by donation. They include 1/2 chicken, 2 sides, and dinner roll. See any board member to purchase tickets. Additional attractions:

ICAPP to host Ada Village Council candidates forum

Ohio Northern University’s Institute for Civics and Public Policy (ICAPP) will host a forum for candidates running for Ada Village Council on Monday, Oct. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Dicke College of Business Forum.

All candidates who are on the Nov. 2 ballot have committed to participating in the forum. They include incumbents Jeff Oestreich, Noah Ristau and Robert C. Simmons, and challengers Sean Beck and Jason Campbell. Voters will elect four to serve.

Ada Rotary Club to host Oct. 13 School Board candidate forum

The Ada Rotary Club will host a forum for Ada Board of Education candidates from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13 in the Dicke Hall forum at Ohio Northern University.

The six candidates for two open seats are Chase Archer, Adam Baumgartner, Denise D’Arca, Ron Fleming, Margaret Gordon and Thomas (Ted) Griffith. Fleming is the only incumbent.

Two candidates, Neal Dumbaugh and Michael Willeke, have formally withdrawn from the race.

The forum will begin with introductions by each candidate, a series of questions and answers, and closing statements by each candidate. The forum is not a debate. A moderator will ask the questions.
