Regional forages program July 25

Many alfalfa and forage stands across the state took a beating this winter and the wet spring has added insult to injury, according to Mark Badertscher, OSU Extension-Hardin County.

Forage stands were damaged this past winter, and the wet spring has further deteriorated stands that appeared they might recover.  So what are the options to assuring a forage supply for the future? 

A Forages for the Future Program will be held Thursday, July 25, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the St. Henry High School Commons, 391 E. Columbus St. in St. Henry.

Gospel sing fundraiser in Alger July 27

Backpack Blessing at Upper Scioto Valley

Neighbor to Neighbor Community Center presents a Gospel Sing Fund Raiser for Backpack Blessing at Upper Scioto Valley schools.

The event is Saturday, July 27, from 4 to 8 p.m.  at 305 N. Main St., Alger.

Event sponsors say to bring your own lawn chair to enjoy an evening of local talent. Ice cream social and box lunches will be available.

Providing lots of reasons to put you in the Christmas spirit

The Inn at ONU has Christmas on its mind and plans a Christmas Inn July celebration from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Thursday, July 25.

FROM BLUFFTON ICON - You'll find this antique doll at rest on an 1840s-era bed in the Swiss Community Historical Society's Schumacher homestead, 8350 Bixel Road, Bluffton.

The homestead is open each Saturday in the summer from 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is $5. The tour takes you back in time where you may see how Swiss settlers lived.

Next blood drive will be July 22

American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive on Monday, July 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Community Health Professionals (Ada Visiting Nurses) in the conference room.

Community Health Professionals is located at 1200 S. Main St.

If you donate blood to the Red Cross any time this month, you'll be enetered to win the prize of four tickets to Cedar Point, which includes travel, hotel, park admission and more. See redcrossblood.org/CedarFair for details.

Teen Art session at the library on July 1

Ada Public Library hosts Teen Art session on Monday, July 1, at 3 p.m., for sixth through twelfth graders, where participants create art projects.

This is part of the summer reading program. All participants will receive a ticket to win prizes.
