Ada wrestlers place 2nd at Cory Duals

RAWSON __ The Ada High School wrestling team began its season with a solid showing at the annual Cory-Rawson Duals event Saturday, December 7.

The Bulldogs went 3-2 in dual meets at the competition to finish in a second-place tie. Archbold won the event at 5-0.

Ada defeated the host Hornets 48-36, whipped Delphos Jefferson 54-18 and handled Ottawa-Glandorf 54-24.

The Bulldogs lost 40-30 to Liberty-Benton, and fell 75-4 to Archbold.

Senior Liam Vieira finished 5-1 on the day to pace Ada. He recorded three pins at the 144 lbs. weight class.

Ada boys swim team sweeps quad meet

OTTAWA- The Ada High School swim teams dove into their season with a strong showing in a four-team meet at the Putnam County YMCA Thursday, December 5, in Ottawa.

The Ada boys won all three of their dual meets. The Bulldog males beat Bluffton 31-19, stomped Bath 41-17 and whipped McComb 42-6.

Bluffton beat the Bulldog girls, 53-28. The Ada girls rebounded to shut out McComb 40-0 and beat Bath 38-20.

In combined team scores Ada beat Bath 79-37, defeated McComb 82-6 and lost to Bluffton 72-59.

“The meet went very well with a lot of swimmers swimming their best times already,” said head coach Ashley Robey. “They all did awesome, and I can't wait to see what they continue to accomplish throughout the season.”

Bulldog senior Lily Baumgartner easily won two individual races, the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

December 6 injury accident reported at CR 15 and SR 81

Eight safety services units were dispatched to an injury accident at State Route 81 and County Rd 15 on Friday, December 6.

The call was received at 3:02 p.m. by the Hardin County Sheriff's dispatch center.

Ada Bulldogs boys basketball defeats Wildcats in BVC opener

VANLUE – The visiting Ada High School boys basketball team rode a big third quarter to defeat upset-minded Vanlue 67-60 in their inaugural Blanchard Valley Conference opener Friday night, December 6.

The Bulldogs improved to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the BVC after winning their third straight road game to start the season.

Vanlue fell to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the BVC with the home defeat.

Junior Zack Zimmerman led Ada with a career-high 29 points as he canned four triples.

“We weren’t ready to play, and they came out playing really well and got us down early,” said Bulldog head coach Chris Sautter. “We didn’t rebound well defensively.

“But we made enough plays down the stretch to win,” he noted.

The Bulldogs trailed 17-13 after the first period. The Wildcats maintained a four-point lead at halftime, 31-27.
