Ada boys swim team sweeps quad meet

By Cort Reynolds

OTTAWA- The Ada High School swim teams dove into their season with a strong showing in a four-team meet at the Putnam County YMCA Thursday, December 5, in Ottawa.

The Ada boys won all three of their dual meets. The Bulldog males beat Bluffton 31-19, stomped Bath 41-17 and whipped McComb 42-6.

Bluffton beat the Bulldog girls, 53-28. The Ada girls rebounded to shut out McComb 40-0 and beat Bath 38-20.

In combined team scores Ada beat Bath 79-37, defeated McComb 82-6 and lost to Bluffton 72-59.

“The meet went very well with a lot of swimmers swimming their best times already,” said head coach Ashley Robey. “They all did awesome, and I can't wait to see what they continue to accomplish throughout the season.”

Bulldog senior Lily Baumgartner easily won two individual races, the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

Ada sophomores Tim Chrissobolis and Jacob Szippl both touched first in a pair of races. Chrissobolis captured the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke events. Szippl took first in the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle races.

Ada junior Lydia Demascio came in first in the girls 200 IM.

All four Bulldogs swam legs for winning relay squads as well.

“We have a better idea of where we need to work on certain things, so we can improve their times even more,” said Robey.

Ada’s next meet is Thursday, December 12 at Van Wert. The Bulldog boys are 3-0, and the Ada girls stand 2-1.

The Bulldogs then travel to Napoleon Saturday, Dec. 14 for the Wildcat Invitational, their second meet in three days.
