Ada girls run in W-G Night Invite
A truncated Ada cross country team ran at the Waynesfield-Goshen Night Invite race on a warm Saturday evening, September 18.
The two participating Ada girls harriers came home back-to-back just three seconds apart.
Bulldog sophomore Jillian Hazelton crossed the tape in 18th place with a time of 27:18.
Ada sophomore Elsie Allen finished right behind her in 19th with a time of 27:21.
"The girls did amazing and this is the hardest I have seen them push themselves," said Ada head coach Josh Klein. "The girls were within 40 seconds of their personal-best records, and this was a hilly course.
"I was super proud of them for showing up strong and fighting through the heat," he continued. "They both had their strongest finish that I've seen in their two seasons."
Junior Spencer Taylor of Waynesfield won the 41-runner girls race in 19:30. Wapakoneta won the girls meet, followed by Lincolnview and host W-G.
Girls Team Scores:
1 WAPAKONETA 31 points
2 LINCOLNVIEW 41
3 WAYNESFIELD-GOSHEN 51
Six other teams were represented but did not have the needed five runners for a team score.
Lincolnview won the boys team crown with 30 points, followed by Wapakoneta (54) and Marion Elgin (85).
Lancer senior Robinson Jackson finished first among 64 runners in the boys race with a time of 17:19. No Ada runners competed in the boys event.
"We are overcoming some injuries and illness with the boys, so it was a girls night," said Klein. "The meet was a last-minute addition to the schedule and I am glad we did (for the girls)."
Boys Team Scores:
