Bulldog boys blanked by Black Knights

Playing at home, the Ada boys soccer team lost 5-0 to Van Buren in North Central Ohio Soccer Association action Thursday night at War Memorial Stadium.

The Bulldogs fell to 3-6-3 overall and 1-3 in NCOSA play with the defeat. 

Van Buren improved to 8-2 and 4-0 in NCOSA action to remain first in the six-team conference standings.

Ada sophomore goalkeeper Colton Long made eight saves in goal.  

The Bulldog boys (0-2-1 NWC) host Spencerville (6-4, 1-1 NWC) Monday, October 4. 

Ada will welcome Riverdale (4-4-3, 2-1 NCOSA) to War Memorial Stadium Thursday, Oct. 7.

Library renewal levy on November 2 ballot

Ada hosts Columbus Grove for Homecoming

Ada hosts league-leading Columbus Grove Friday, October 8 for Homecoming.

Grove is 7-0 (4-0 NWC) after defeating Crestview 38-0 Friday.

Ada (0-2 home) is rated 20th in the Div. VII, Region 26 computer rankings. Grove is at or near the very top of the Div. VI, Region 22 ratings.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday at Ada War Memorial Park Stadium, 401 N Park Dr.

Bearcats claw Ada

Visiting Ada fell behind big and early to Spencerville and lost 56-20 in a Northwest Conference contest Friday night.

The Bearcats tallied three touchdowns in the first five minutes and raced to a 28-0 lead after the initial period of play. The hosts extended the margin to 49-6 at halftime.

Ada scored the last two touchdowns in the fourth period.

The Bulldogs fell to 1-6 and 0-4 in the NWC after their fourth straight defeat. 

Spencerville improved to 3-4 and 2-2 in league play with the win.

"We fought hard, we competed hard," said first-year Ada head coach Toby Smith. "We are just making too many mistakes to give ourselves a chance to win.

Bulldog golfers 7th at sectionals

The Ada golf team finished seventh out of 13 teams in the Div. III golf sectionals at Sycamore Springs Golf Course on September 30 to conclude its season on an upswing.

Allen East won the sectional crown with a team score of 337. Van Buren was second (341) and Bluffton third (346).

Ada came in a seventh with 427 strokes to register its best sectional showing in years. 

Bulldog senior Dexter Woods shot a 49-53=102 18-hole score to tie for 24th and pace Ada. He finished seven strokes off district qualification.

Senior Andrew Rush finished right behind him in 27th with a 54-49=103. Junior Geddes Klingler posted a 54-55=109 to end up 35th.
