Bulldog girls drop NWC opener at Vikings

LEIPSIC⎯The Ada High School volleyball team lost in three sets at Leipsic in the Northwest Conference opener Wednesday evening, September 7.

The 25-12, 25-17, 25-17 loss dropped the Ada season record to 5-3 overall and 0-1 in the NWC. Leipsic improved to 6-1 and 1-0 in the NWC with the win.

After three home non-league games to kick off the season, the Ada High School football team begins the seven-game Northwest Conference portion of its slate at tough Leipsic Friday.

Both teams are 1-2 entering league play. Ada's three opponents thus far have a combined record of 7-2.

"Leipsic is very, very big and physical," said Ada head coach Toby Smith. "We will have our hands full. We will have to maximize our opportunities when we get them.

September 17 festival promoted by Ada chamber

The Harvest & Herb Festival, a program of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce, is bringing a celebration of fall to Main Street, Ada: parade, 140 vendor booths, food, fun and the crowning of festival royalty.

Ohio Supreme Court Justice Pat DeWine to provide public presentation at ONU Law

Ohio Supreme Court Justice Pat DeWine will offer a free, public presentation on “The Role of Justice” at Ohio Northern University at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13 in Tilton Hall, Room 129.

Justice DeWine began his six-year elected term on the Ohio Supreme Court in 2017. He is known for the quality and thoroughness of his legal opinions, which reflect his strong belief in judicial restraint and his respect for the constitutional roles of the other co-equal branches of government.

OHSAA officials training moves online

Online and In-School Education Boosting Number of New OHSAA Officials

COLUMBUS–Facing a growing shortage of interscholastic sports officials across Ohio, the Ohio High School Athletic Association has moved all classroom instruction for new officials to the convenient virtual platform RefPrep and is also asking member schools to offer the online officiating curriculum during the school day for students to begin the process of becoming a licensed official. A number of schools across Ohio have already begun offering the RefPrep class.

Peg and Dick Lawrence celebrate 65th wedding anniversary

Peg and Dick Lawrence of Ada, Ohio will celebrate their 65th Wedding Anniversary on September 8.

They were married on September 8, 1957 at Dola Presbyterian Church. They have three children: Jill Meyer, Juli Miller, Jeff Lawrence; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

From the Lawrences: "What a wonderful life we have shared together." They have lived and been involved in Ada community for 65 years. Peg retired from Lima Memorial Hospital and Dick retired from Apollo Career Center.

The family will have a private celebration.
