Summer reading program winds down

Summer Reading at the Ada Public Library is winding down, but participants still have until Saturday, July 12th to turn in reading logs. Only those who complete and return reading logs will be prize winners.

Stop and smell the bee balm

The next time you walk by the Ada railroad depot park, stop and smell the bee balm. Also, pause and admire the clustered bellflowers, dianthus, gallarda, scabiosa, speedwell and lots of day lillies. Watch for more flowers to smell all week. These flowers will also be posted on the Bluffton Icon this week.

ONU selected as one of 20 universities to participate in TIDES

Ohio Northern University is one of 20 U.S. colleges and universities selected for an American Association of Colleges and University (AAC&U) initiative called TIDES (Teaching to Increase Diversity and Equity in STEM).

Ohio Northern, one of five schools receiving honorable mention accolades, will receive a grant totaling $34,278 to participate in the AAC&U STEM Institutes over the next three years.  Of the 20 institutions selected, 14 were full awardees, and one institution was designated as noteworthy.

Ohio Northern University registering organizations, businesses, residents for ACE Day

Ohio Northern University is currently registering organizations, businesses, and residents for its third annual Ada Civic Engagement (ACE) Day to be held on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. to noon.

A partnership with the village of Ada, the ACE Day program provides opportunities for ONU’s first-year students to not only engage with the community but also contribute to the village’s beautification.
