“Let’s cancel it!” A polarizing phrase that appears to be a product of the social climate and times in which we live.

Everything from TV shows, movies, books, and, yes, music is now under the microscope of the “woke” public eye. But in music, songs and artists meeting with criticism for their so-called lack of a moral compass is nothing new. 

Here’s a look at five iconic songs that people wanted to say sayonara to, despite the issues they sing about remaining front and center in 2021.

Ohio Northern built a 35-3 third quarter lead and held off a furious rally to post a 35-22 football victory over Wilmington on  chilly Friday night at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 3-0 overall and are 3-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Quakers fall to 2-2, 2-2.

Senior Brody Hahn (Louisville) ran for a 42-yard touchdown and threw for four more scores as ONU built a 35-3 lead with 5:23 left in the third quarter.

Wilmington scored on three of its next four possessions to pull within 35-22 with 3:45 left in the game.

ONU law grad who happens to be Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine returned to Ada on Friday afternoon. He toured the ONU HealthWise covid-19 vaccination clinic and joined in informal conversations with many persons during the afteroon. ONU officials estimated 550 vaccinations were administered in 12 stations spread across King Horn Sports Center. Michael Rush and Steve Martin were hosts to the visit.

ONU intends to return to full on-campus experience in the fall

“We are confident that fall 2021 will look more like normal campus operations for many reasons. Our successful response to implementing in-person education this academic year is one reason for that confidence."

Ohio Northern University announced on its Facebook that it intends to return to a full on-campus experience in the fall.

The announcement stated that the decision was made by relying on public health guidance and working with state and local officials to pursue learning, living, and working on campus as close to, if not at, pre-pandemic levels.

Continuing:  “The university is committed to providing students with an optimal educational environment and looks forward to returning to a traditional semester calendar as well as continuing in-person learning, on-campus living and campus events and activities.

ONU Child Development Center has openings in the fall

Full-day and half-day options available

The Ohio Northern University Child Development Center has a few openings for preschoolers in the fall, according to June Zimmerman, director.

The Center, located at 209 S. Union St., Ada, operates full-day and half-day preschool programs. 

To enroll students or for more information about the preschool contact Zimmerman at 419-772-2141 or email [email protected].

The full-day program is offered Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.

A non-refundable registration fee of $25 will be charged to enroll in the CDC program. This fee reserves a space for your child.

Brody Hahn - Josh Bever receive OAC honors
Ohio Northern senior Brody Hahn (Louisville), sophomore Josh Bever (Ashland) and freshman Peyton Wilson (Lima/Shawnee) all received weekly honors for their efforts in a 47-6 football victory at Capital on Friday night.

Hahn and Wilson were named the Ohio Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Bever was named to the D3football.com national Team of the Week at defensive end.
