Ada girls' a solid third at Hardin County meet

KENTON - The Ada girls track and field team finished a solid third at the annual, six-team Hardin County meet in Kenton Tuesday evening.

Host Kenton won both the boys and girls team titles.

The Ada girls finished with 84 points, while the Bulldog boys came in sixth with 52.

Ada senior Brenna Hissong took first in the 400-meter run to pace the Lady Bulldogs. Sophomore Antonio Pettit finished first in the 110 high hurdles to post the top Bulldog boys showing.

The question comes following 4.7 inches of snow falling over a two-day period of April 20-21, according to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer.

The snow fell in a month with temperatures reaching extremes of 83 degrees on April 27 to 19 degrees on April 2 – a 64-degree range.

To make the month even more interesting, April 2021’s average daily temperature was 51.4 degrees, higher than the April normal average of 49.7 degrees.

6 ONU wrestlers Scholar All-Americans

 Six Ohio Northern wrestlers were named Scholar All-Americans for 2021 by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.

Juniors Jordan Hardrick (Dayton/Wayne) and Connor Kwiat (Bloomville/Tiffin Calvert), sophomores Ben DePrest(Louisville, Ky./Saint Xavier) and Chase Sumner (Ada) and freshmen Devon Harbison (Beloit, Wis./Turner) and Ross Rayfield (Delta) all earned the honor.

Hardrick is a three-year starter at 165 pounds and went 2-2 this season. He is 41-27 in his career and was named Second Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference as a sophomore in 2019-20.

He is majoring in pharmacy.

9 Polar Bears named All-OAC in football

Nine Ohio Northern student/athletes were named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in football for 2020-21 in voting conducted by the league's 10 head coaches.

Seniors Brody Hahn (Louisville), A.J. Marks (Guysville/Alexander), Jared Ritenour (Rockford, Ill./Lake Center), Chase Rose (Kenton/Upper Scioto Valley) and Jarrett Sitton (Paulding) and sophomore Josh Bever (Ashland) were all named All-Conference.

Junior Austin Eick (Rossford), sophomore Nichal Johnson (College Park, Ga./Northgate) and freshman Noah Miller (Coldwater) received Honorable Mention All-OAC honors.
