Beatrice L. Adkins, age 97, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 9:10 AM at Vancrest of Ada.
She was born on October 10, 1923 in Alger, Ohio to Nelson and Bonnie (Choran) Hunnaman who preceded her in death. Beatrice first married Ralph Watkins,they were divorced and he preceded her in death. She married Jonah L. Adkins on November 20, 1953 and he preceded her in death on March 21, 2004.
Beatrice was a homemaker.
Also surviving are two sons: Leroy Watkins of Alger and Richard Watkins of Ada; two daughters: Bonnie Summa of Shawnee and Judy (Robert) Howard of Lakeview; eleven grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren and fifty great-great grandchildren.
A thousand blood donations needed daily to prevent further delays in patient care

While donors across the country have rolled up a sleeve to give this summer, the need for blood and platelets remains crucial for patients relying on lifesaving transfusions. The American Red Cross continues to experience a severe blood shortage and donors of all blood types – especially type O and those giving platelets – are urged to make an appointment to give now.
Right now, the Red Cross needs to collect more than 1,000 additional blood donations each day to meet current demand as hospitals respond to an unusually high number of traumas and emergency room visits, organ transplants and elective surgeries.
More than 150 riders toured Bluffton and Ada countryside as part of the seventh annual Ride to Remember. Proceeds from the annual event go toward building additional bike paths in the area.
The father of a former Ada clergy person, Joseph Hughes Yeakel, Retired Bishop of the United Methodist Church, 93, died, July 4, 2021 at the Danbury Woods Senior Living Center, Wooster, OH.
Joe was born March 12, 1928, in Mahanoy City, PA, to the late Claude H. and Florence M. (Hughes) Yeakel. Joe married Lois Josephine Shank of Waynesboro, PA in 1948.

Evan Smittle of Ada was part of the talented cast and crew in the Baldwin Wallace University and Playhouse Square collaborative production of "BARS (Beatboxing, Acting, Rapping, Singing)" during the spring 2021 semester.
Smittle, a graduate of Ada High School, served as a member of the arts management producing team in the production.
