7th annual Bradley Joseph golf outing July 12

The 7th Annual Bradley Joseph Memorial Golf Outing will be held on Saturday, July 12 at the Colonial Golfers Club, Harrod. The proceeds from the outing provide scholarships to pharmacy students from northwest Ohio to go on medical mission trips.

The outing will be a four-person scramble with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. There will hot dogs at the turn and an awards luncheon to follow. The cost for the outing is $45 per golfer. Hole sponsorships are available for $100.

Hardin County 4-H dog bowl teams place in first year of competition

Hardin County 4-H was well represented at the 4-H State Dog Bowl Competition this year. The Dog Bowl was held on Saturday, June 7 at the Ohio 4-H Center in Columbus.

This was the first year that Hardin County sent teams to the competition, a double elimination quiz tournament focusing on dog knowledge. The junior team placed 2nd in the tournament. Junior team members include Adeline Moore, Allison Moore, Katherine Moore, Oliver Moore and Ruth Anne Osborne. The senior team, comprised of Hope Hazelton, Lydia Osborne, Abigail Osborne and Catherine Osborne, placed 5th.

Upper Scioto FFA chamber presents student awards

The Ohio Hi-Point-Upper Scioto Valley FFA Chapter held its annual awards banquet last month to recognize student accomplishments throughout the year.  Star Awards were handed out as well as the Honorary Member Award, which was given to Doug Putnam (owner of Putnam Wetlands), for his outstanding support and help with the chapter.

The Star Business Award was given to Dylan Hunsicker (senior).  The Star Eagle Award went to junior and chapter president, Jacob Parker. The Star Chapter Award was given to sophomore and chapter vice president, Cecily Preston.

Star Greenhand Awards went to four deserving freshmen: Peyton Dyer, Abbey Fry, Faith Holbrook and Amy Manns.

Hardin native returns to lead Hardin Alliance

The Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance announced that the Board of Directors has appointed Hardin County native Jon Cross to serve as its new President/CEO and Director of Business Development. He will start his position on October 1, 2014.

Cross will focus his efforts towards economic and business development, advancing Hardin County's market awareness on a regional, national and global scale.

Liberty Belles and Boys drive-thru food drive June 14

Liberty Belles and Boys 4-H Club is holding a drive-thru food drive to benefit the Ada Food Pantry.

The food drive will be held on Saturday, June 14 from 9 a.m. to noon at Hays Insurance on Main Street. The food pantry needs items such as peanut butter, jelly, canned fruit, mac and cheese, canned meats, canned beans, and personal hygiene items.

This is one of the 4-H club's most successful community service projects, and this year they hope to get at least 500 items donated. Please bring your donation to Hays Insurance on Saturday morning!
