Jameson, Conley 1st team All-NWC soccer

Ada High School seniors Brendan Jameson and Carter Conley each earned first team All-Northwest Conference boys soccer honors in voting recently conducted by the league coaches.

Jameson paced the Ada defense while Conley topped the offense.

Bulldog senior Ethan Murphy and sophomore Logan Jolliff were named second team All-NWC. Conley and Jolliff were the team's leading goal scorers.

Ada sophomore Nathan Williams was tabbed honorable mention all-league. 

Senior Will Gallaspie of Spencerville was named NWC Player of the Year. Lincolnview mentor Anson Moody was voted NWC Coach of the Year. 

Marshall, Burkhart top Bulldog girls soccer all-leaguers

The Ada High School girls soccer team placed four players on all-conference teams in voting recently conducted by the league coaches.

Junior Ella Marshall was named first team All-Northwest Conference and first team All-North Central Ohio Soccer Association.

Marshall set an Ada program single-season record with 16 goals, and she also passed out seven assists. 

Junior Olivia Burkhart was voted second team All-NWC and second team All-NCOSA. She broke the Ada season record for most assists in a season with 13, and she also netted seven goals.

Costumes and candy: Kiwanis and Residence Life events

While Ada's Trick or Treat night is officially October 27 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., there are more Halloween-themed events on Ada's calendar:

HALLOWEEN PARADE, OCTOBER 24
The Ada Kiwanis will host a Halloween Parade at 6:00 p.m. on October 24 behind the Municipal Building (easiest access from Gilbert St.)

  • Registration 5:15 p.m.
  • Costume judging by age groups (flyer attached below)

This is the first Kiwanis parade since 2019 and is an event that has been coordinated by the group for over 20 years. The event was started by other community service organizations and has been an Ada tradition for some 70 years.

ONU Homecoming festivities span Oct. 21-22

Ohio Northern University’s Homecoming Weekend, planned for Friday through Sunday, Oct. 21-23, will feature several campus events and a parade through downtown Ada.

The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. on Main Street. Ken Hall, BSEd, BS ’64, will serve as the grand marshal.

Chamber hosts monthly member meeting

Wednesday, October 19 is the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce's monthly membership meeting.

Jordan Martin from Stolly Insurance Group will talk about the chamber's health insurance benefit opportunity.

Preparations for the Town & Gown Banquet (November 7) and Merry on Main (December 3) will be discussed.

AHS girls soccer season recap

UPPER SANDUSKY--The Ada girls soccer team battled to a halftime tie, but they eventually tired and lost 5-1 at Upper Sandusky on a cold Monday evening, October 17, in Div. III sectional first round tournament action.

Seeded ninth, the Bulldog girls finished with a 5-12 record after the season-ending defeat. 

The seventh-seeded Lady Rams improved to 8-5-3 with the win, and advanced to the sectional finals.

"Cold weather and tired legs from our game Saturday night did us in," said Lady Bulldog first-year head coach Doug Dewese. 

Ada lost a tough 2-0 makeup match to Allen East Saturday.

Village offers new app for bill payments

The Village of Ada has introduced My Civic App. available for Android and Apple devices, to provide a new bill payment option. It allows users to:

  • Access real-time account information and consumption history
  • Pay by phone, text, website, or mobile app
  • Make a one-time payment, schedule a payment or sign up for autopay
  • Receive payment reminders

Ada residents can make payments directly through https://www.adaoh.org/ using the "Pay your bill" button or download the mycivic app.

ONU women's golf at Bluffton Beaver Fall Classic recap

BLUFFTON — The Ohio Northern women's golf team won its third tournament in four tries this fall, posting a 676 at the Bluffton Beaver Fall Classic on Saturday and Sunday at the Bluffton Golf Course.

The Polar Bears (33-1 overall) defeated second-place Wooster by 19 strokes in the five-team tournament after holding an impressive 26-shot lead after the first round.

It marks ONU's third consecutive tournament victory after opening the season with a second place finish at the Olivet (Mich.) Fall Invitational Sept. 9-10.

Northern has since won tournaments at Heidelberg, Lourdes and now Bluffton.

Obituary for Rosemary Conley Powell

Rosemary Conley Powell, age 72, of Lima, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at the Lost Creek Care Center, Lima.
