Operation Evergreen at Christmas tree farm

MT. CORY–Kaleidoscope Farms is again honoring U.S. troops by participating in the Operation Evergreen program on November 6.

“We get to celebrate Veteran’s Day in a special way at Kaleidoscope Farms,” said farm owner Dave Reese. “We participate in Ohio’s Operation Evergreen Program that sends around 100 Christmas trees from the state’s Christmas tree growers, complete with handmade ornaments, to troops stationed overseas for the holidays.”

Ada-Liberty EMS asks voters for new levy

November 8 ballot issue for Liberty Township

At the October 17 meeting of the Ada-Liberty EMS board, the agenda included routine activities such as paying bills as well as business conducted once in every 20-some years: a replacement levy on the November 8 ballot.

The proposed levy would allow Chief Tom Miller to staff the station with two employees during the day and, later, to improve the station to allow staff to sleep overnight in beds rather than on a couch or in their cars. 

Alarm clock adjustment? 2-hour school delay October 25

How does a school delay impact your household? On October 25, the Ada Schools will have a 2-hour delay for teacher inservice.

Rotary encourages Ada to recognize World Polio Day

The Ada Rotary is taking part in World Polio Day on October 24 and will have a banner on display near the Ada Train Depot Park. 

The local service club is highly active in the Ada community, participating in public events, educating members about community needs and issues at weekly meetings and providing scholarships for local students. The organization shares a cause with the 62 clubs in Rotary District 6600 and over 3,000 members in Northern Ohio​, as well as with the 46,000 club across the world: ending polio.

Northern Poll ‘22 of likely Ohio voters

Spotlights prevailing sentiments on key state and national races, explores political polarization attitudes

The Institute for Civics and Public Policy (ICAPP) at Ohio Northern University has released the Northern Poll, a web-based poll of 668 likely voters in Ohio taken from October 11-15. Dr. Robert Alexander (Ohio Northern University) Dr. John Curiel (Ohio Northern University), and Professor Tyler Steelman (University of North Carolina) led the project. Student ICAPP Fellows assisted with compiling data outcomes.

Jane F. Wilkerson taught in Williamsport, Ohio

Jane F. Wilkerson, age 72, of Ada, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 8:11 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.  

She was born in Kenton, Ohio on February 10, 1950, to the late Carl E. and Jean Ann (Klingler) Wilkerson.

Music Feast will be here soon! We need several adult and student volunteers to help with prep and set up. Please feel free to share these links with others that may want to become involved!

We have also added some incentives to show our appreciation! If you volunteer at least 4 hours, you will get free admission to the event! If you volunteer 8 or more hours, you will receive a voucher for a free meal!

Every 4 hours of volunteer time will give you one entry into our volunteer door prize drawing! 7p-11p shift, you get an extra entry!

St. Mark community meal on October 26

St. Mark Lutheran Church will be serving it's Free Community Meal from 5 to 6:30–or whenever the food runs out–on Wednesday, October 26. The church is located at the corner of Lincoln and Johnson streets.

This month's menu consists of chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, corn, fruit, and cookie. You may dine in, carry out, or drive up for curbside.

The meal is free and open to the public. Organizers note: “Last month we served over 170 meals and ran out of food and were forced to turn people away. Don't let this happen to you. Don't be late. Hope to see you all there."
