29th Hardin Leadership Graduation Announced

Past Hardin Leadership graduates, their guests and community leaders are invited

Seventeen Hardin Leadership participants will be recognized for completing their nine-session Hardin Leadership 2022 program with a celebration on Thursday evening, November 10 at the Elk’s Lodge Banquet Room, 117 E. Franklin St., Kenton. The gathering begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner buffet beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Representing the class with the “Class Reflections” will be Frank Dudek of Kenton.  Sam Hostetler, Owner of Stillwater Metal will be the Alumni speaker and will talk about “Meeting the Person in the Mirror.”

Nominees sought for library board

The Ada Public Library Board of Trustees is seeking nominations for individuals to fill an open position on the board. Self-nominations as well as nominations of others are welcome.

Trustees must:

  • Live within the Ada Village Exempted School District
  • Attend a majority of meetings each year; meetings are held on the third Monday of every month at 9:00 a.m.
  • Support the Ada Public Library in fulfilling its mission
  • Abide by the Ethics Statement for Library Trustees, as found in the Ohio Library Council's Ohio Public Library Trustees' Handbook, and online at this link: www.ala.org/ala/alta/links/ethicsstatement.pdf

For the characters in the “Game of Thrones,” the phrase “Winter is Coming” meant that bad things were about to happen. For us in northern Ohio, the phrase “winter is coming” also can hold a bad omen, as many of us suffer from seasonal depression.

Rhonda Crouse earns Ohio Association of Realtors award

Rhonda Crouse of Ada has achieved the 2022 Ohio Association of REALTORS President's Sales Club Award for a minimum sales amount of 1 million dollars in a 12-month period. 

Crouse is a Real Estate Advisor and Consultant with Coldwell Banker Realty in Columbus Ohio, Downtown Metro Office. She advocates for buyers and sellers to get the best possible terms.

Reminder: Swing! performances October 22-23 at Freed Center

Manuela “Nellie” Scott obituary

Manuela “Nellie” Scott, age 73, of Alger, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born in Adrian, Michigan on July 13, 1949, to the late Jesse and Bertha (Bernal) Mirelez, Sr.  Nellie married Rodney A. Scott, Sr. and he survives in Alger.

Quick-strike Mustangs down Ada, win outright NWC title

HARROD--The Allen East football team outscored visiting Ada High School 28-0 in the second period to convincingly defeat their backyard rival 52-7 and win the Northwest Conference championship outright Friday night, October 21, at a windy Goodwin Field.

Village leaf pick up begins October 24

At the Tuesday, October 18 council meeting, Village Administrator Jamie Hall announced that leaf pick up crews would begin work on Monday, October 24.

The Village has been divided into the four districts. Each district will have leaves picked up on a set date.

Dates are subject to change due to weather or emergencies.

Summary of October 18 Ada Council and Safety Services committee meetings

  • New EMS levy on Nov. 8 ballot
  • October 29 neighborhood rejuvenation grant meeting
  • Lexipol service considered for police department

Mayor Dave Retterer convened the Oct. 18 regular meeting of the Ada council at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers, 115 W. Buckeye. All council members were present. Two journalists were in attendance and additional viewers watched via Zoom. A packet for the meeting is available HERE.

Bills were paid by unanimous vote. The Claims Register is listed on pages 8-12 of the council packet.

RESOLUTIONS
A second reading was made and approved unanimously for “An Ordinance Approving the Recodification, Editing and Inclusion of Certain Ordinances as Parts of the Various Component Codes of the Codified Ordinances of Ada, OH,” an annual procedure.

OLD BUSINESS
Council member Sheila Coressel reported on the Monday, October 17 meeting of the Ada-Liberty ambulance board. She shared information sheets regarding a proposed EMS levy that will be on the November 8 general election ballot.
