Delores Truman owned the Hickory Farms store at Lima Mall

Delores Truman, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 11:56 AM at Lima Memorial Health System.

She was born on June 7, 1942 in Lima, Ohio to the late Hershel and Oma (Holbrook) Wright.  On September 21, 1959 Delores married Thomas W. Truman and he survives in Lima. 

Also surviving are her two daughters: Rhonda (James) Park of Ada and Kim (Brent) Young of Huntsville; four grandchildren: Jeremy Park, Garrett (Ben Douglas) Young, Justin Young and Kira (Jeramy) Furrow; three great grandchildren: Asher Furrow, Elliot Park and Cierra (Keane Dunn) Furrow; a brother, Hershel Douglas (MaryLou) Wright of Lima; and a sister, Carol (Mike) Duling of Alabama.

Nov. 15 public auction of farmland

Siefker Real Estate and Auctio Co. LTD has announced the public auction of farmland at 7 p.m. on Nov. 15 at the Centre at Bluffton, 601 N. Main St.

The property is 108.32 +/- acres in section 32, Richland Twp., Allen County, OH with frontage on Pandora Road, south of Pandora. App. 1.5 miles south of Pandora on Rd. 5.

Summary of Nov. 2 Ada Regular Council Meeting

The November 2 Regular Council Meeting of the Village of Ada was attended by four of six members. Sheila Coressel was absent because of the General Election.

Payments included the installation of LED lighting in the municipal parking lot following the failure of twenty-some bulbs and ballasts.

Del and Karol Wells celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

Mr. & Mrs. Delmar Wells will celebrate 50 years of marriage on Nov. 7, 2021. A luncheon will be held from 1-3 p.m. that day at the LaFayette Congregational Christian Church, 205 W Main St., to celebrate what Karol calls "50 years of fun!"

Del and the former Karol Lynne Contris were married Nov. 7, 1971, at Liberty Chapel Church near LaFayette by the Rev. Marvin Paxton. They built a home on property nearby and raised 4 children, dozens of foster children, and countless international exchange students.

Nov. 2 Regular Council Meeting can be joined online

The Village of Ada has provided a link to join the 6:30 p.m. November 2, 2021 council meeting online: https://teams.live.com/meet/93967139880445.

Village of Ada Regular Council Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month at 6:30 pm. 

Meetings are held in Council Chambers, located on the 2nd floor of the Municipal Building, which is located at 115 West Buckeye Ave.  Elevator service is available. 

Ada utility bills may be impacted by mail delays

On October 28, the Village of Ada announced that due to new service standards implemented in October by the United States Postal Service, some first-class mail may now take up to 5 days to deliver.

This may affect how quickly residents receive their Village utility bill each month and the receipt of payments mailed into the office.

To assure payments are received in a timely manner and to avoid late charges, residents may use the options listed below:

Ada Drama Club performs "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!" Nov. 19 and 20

The Ada High School drama club will present "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!" by Barbara Robinson on Friday, November 19 and Saturday, November 20 at 7 p.m. each night in the school auditorium, 725 W North Ave.

All tickets are $5. Presale tickets may be purchased online at https://www.adabulldogs.org/highschool/Content2/tickets. Tickets will also be available the night of the performances.

Mary A. Williams was a school bus driver

Mary A. Williams, age 84, passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at the Blanchard Place in Kenton.

She was born on April 12, 1937 in Marysville, Ohio to the late Howard and Mary Josephine (Peppers) Evans. On June 19, 1955 Mary married Robert A. Williams, Jr., and he passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021. 

Financial Aid Meeting at Ada High School Nov. 4

Ada High School will hold its annual Financial Aid Presentation for students, parents and community members. The meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on November 4, 2021 in the Ada Schools media center, 725 W North Ave.

A representative from Ohio Northern University will provide information that is applicable to all colleges and universities. Topics to be discussed are completing the FAFSA, (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), sources for aid, and specific concerns of those attending. The meeting is open to the public.
