Senior Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) added to her impressive resume as she was named an Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Co-Runner of the Year for the 2017 season.

Otterbein's Claire Lamb was also named OAC Co-Runner of the Year.

Richards was named the Runner Up at both the OAC Championships and at the Div. III Great Lakes Regional meets, before going on to be named an All-American at the 2017 Div. III National Championships. She earned the OAC Runner of the Year honor for the first time in her career.

The Band Loco performs for residents of Vancrest on Friday afternoon. The popular due attracts a full house each month when they perform. Patti Meier and her husband, Mike, are from Wapakoneta.

Girls' preview: Lady Bulldog cagers young, scrappy

The rebuilding Ada boys basketball team has the size and experience to surprise this winter under second-year head coach Dre White.

GIRLS' PREVIEW IS BELOW -

The young Bulldog mentor endured an occasionally trying initial campaign on the sidelines, but the experience should pay dividends down the line.

Ada finished 4-19 overall and 0-8 in Northwest Conference play in 2016-17. Their top two scorers graduated - second team All-NWC big man Owen Conley and honorable mention all-league wing Jordan Bailey - but the Bulldogs return enough talented lettermen and size to provide optimism for an increased win total.

The Polar Bears will host the 37th Annual ONU Invitational on Saturday at the ONU Sports Center Fieldhouse ... 10 schools are expected to join ONU in the tournament, which will be a flighted, double-elimination event with the standard 10 NCAA weight classes ... Ohio Northern fell in its Ohio Athletic Conference opener 23-9 to No. 9-ranked Baldwin Wallace on Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center ...

coaching staff earned OAC Coaching Staff of the Year honors for the 2017 season.

McVey claimed the honor for the second consecutive season and became the second men's runner in school history to earn the honor in two consecutive seasons. Former Polar Bear standout Jimmy O'Brien earned the honor during the 2007 and 2008 seasons.

 

The Ohio Northern wrestling team will be collecting children's toys and cash donations at the 37th annual ONU Invitational on Saturday at the ONU Sports Center.

Fans can donate a $6 admission fee or a child's toy to get into the tournament, with the proceeds going to provide for needy families in Hardin County.

Last year, the wrestling team raised more than $1,500 and collected dozens of toys to donate.

Wrestling will begin at 9 am and will continue throughout the day.

Clovis Moore, age 82, died Friday, December 01, 2017 at 2:25 a.m. at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton.

            He was born on January 13, 1935 in Floyd County, Kentucky to Peter and Emaline (Hicks) Moore.  On September 14, 1957 he married Shirley L. Wibright and she died on December 12, 2009.

            Clovis retired from Rudolph Foods of Lima.  He loved gardening, hunting and fishing.

Tonight, the Ada High School boys basketball team will tip off their season at home against Ridgemont at 7:30 p.m. For this Bulldog team, tonight represents a chance to start anew after winning just four games last season.

 

Led by second-year head coach Dre White, Ada will welcome back four returning letterwinners from last season: junior guard Cade Mullins, junior forward Connor Frazier, senior wing Ethan Swaney and senior guard Jackson Conrad. However, Ada will be without two of their biggest playmakers from last year, Owen Conley and Jordan Bailey, who have since graduated.

 

Ohio Northern University’s Wind and Symphony orchestras will perform at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10 at the Freed Center. This program begins a year of celebration for the 90th anniversary of the ONU Department of Music. 

 

Tickets are $20 for general admission, $15 for ONU faculty and staff, $10 for seniors, and $5 for students.
