Ada Teacher Feature: A chat with Kristie Steiner, art teacher

Compiled by Darlene Bowers

Welcome to the Ada Icon's "Ada Teacher Feature." Here we share thoughts and insights from local teachers who lift up and inspire our students.

Let us lift up and inspire these educators as well. Today we meet Kristie Steiner, art teacher. It was Georgia O'Keefe who said, "I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way - things I had no words for."

Kristie is helping our students learn to express themselves and find what interests them, too.

There's something about dogs and snow

What is it about dogs and snow?

There's something about an attraction - or need - to stick your snout in the snow and snort. You probably have a selfie of your dog in a similar pose.

This is Monty's Siekerman's dog, Abby, doing what dogs do when it snows.

Winter's last gasp? Look now because it's already melting

It finally snowed.

Monty Siekerman and Ken Collins took advantage of the white stuff. They took their cameras outdoors and fired away, in what we hope is winter's last gasp.

Enjoy the views.

Tom Gossel shares his pharmacy experiences with ONU students

Dr. Tom Gossel returned to the ONU campus last week to speak to students about the profession of pharmacy and his career experiences.

Dr. Gossel told students that he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do after high school, but through the direction and kindness of several people, he discovered ONU and pharmacy – it was a perfect pairing.

After graduating from Ohio Northern in 1963, he went on to become a professor, and eventually Dean at the Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy.

March came in like a lion...and we thought this was lots of snow!

You might say that March came in like a Lion.

Just when we think the warm temperatures are here to stay Old Man Winter reappears. Ken Collins took this winter blast photos around noon on March 3.

Then, when we woke up this morning, we realized that yesterday's snow was simply flurries. Today we experienced the real thing.

Even though there's a chill in the air, there an artistic beauty to a snowfall. These photos proof that.
