Third place finish at Muskingum Spring Invitational

The Ohio Northern men's golf team opened its 2022 spring season with a third place finish at the Muskingum Spring Invitational on Monday at the Zanesville Country Club.

The Polar Bears (20-21-4 overall) tied for third out of six teams with Muskingum with a 308. Otterbein won the team title with a 300, Capital was second with a 307, Marietta was fifth with a 330 and Hiram was sixth with a 364.

Junior Josh Steyer (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) led ONU with a third place finish out of 54 golfers with a 2-over par 74.

Baseball, softball, soccer and track were all on view at the Ada Village Park this week [March 18, 2022]. Thursday's weather was sunny and possibly perfect.

Ohio Northern freshman Holden Cubberley (Celina) competed in the 3-meter diving competition at the NCAA Division III Championships on Wednesday, March 16 at IUPUI Natatorium.

Cubberley posted a final score of 395.75 points for 11 dives in the Trials portion of the competition, placing him 19th in the field of 23.

The top eight finishers from the Trials advanced to the Finals, while finishers 9-16 advanced to the Consolation Finals.

The Ohio Northern softball team posted a 2-1 record on a busy Friday, March 11, during the final day of its spring break trip to The Spring Games in Claremont, FL.

The Polar Bears (4-4 overall) began the day with a 3-2 loss to Catholic (D.C.) on Friday morning and a 4-2 victory over Arcadia (Pa.) on Friday afternoon.

Northern then picked up a game against Westfield State (Mass.) Friday night to help make up for three games lost during the week to rain and defeated the Owls 12-4.

ONU Freshman Jacob Reed (Canal Winchester/Lancaster) earned All-America honors with a third place finish at the 141-pound weight class at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships on Friday and Saturday at the Alliant Engergy Power House in Cedar Rapids, IA.
