The Ada High School girls softball team split a home twinbill vs. Upper Scioto Valley and Miller City on a chilly Saturday afternoon, April 2, at Ada War Memorial Park.
The Lady Bulldogs whipped the rival Rams 11-4 in the opener, but lost the nightcap 15-4 to MC to run their record to 1-2 this season.
"Against USV we kept it together and answered back," said new Lady Bulldog head coach Jeff Bassitt. "We shut them down the last four innings and Jenna settled down."
Ada jumped on top with two runs in the home first vs. USV. Jenna Bassitt and Aidra Preston opened the game with consecutive singles and came in to score.

Ada held on to win the opener 3-2, but a big Ram rally early in the nightcap paved the way for a 16-2 win. The Bulldogs ran their record to 2-1 with the split. USV is now 2-2.
In the first game, Ada held onto a 2-1 lead for most of the game after scoring two runs in the second.
The Bulldogs tacked on a crucial run in the bottom of the sixth.
The Ada varsity baseball team has solid veteran pitching and a lot of youth on its 2022 roster.
The Bulldog baseballers return six starters from last year's team that finished 7-14 overall and 1-7 in the Northwest Conference, good for eighth place.
Veteran Bulldog head coach Jason Campbell enters his ninth year at the helm of the Bulldog program (44-152 overall, 8-64 NWC).
He has new coaching help from intense assistant Toby Smith, who has won over 300 high school games as a head coach. Smith also serves as the head Ada football coach.
The young Ada High School girls softball team lost its season lidlifter at non-league foe Arcadia by a 9-4 count Tuesday evening, March 29.
"Errors and leaving people on base hurt," said new Ada head coach Jeff Bassitt. "We were in the game and did some good stuff, but we have to clean up the errors.
"They had a really good catcher and pitcher," he added. "We had some hard-hit outs, but they made plays on them. They hit the ball harder than we did, and in the gap more. They have a nice team."
