Ada’s Baumgartner wins 3 races

BLUFFTON __ The Ada Gators summer swim team surged two spots after opening day to finish sixth at the 2024 West Ohio Aquatic League championship meet in Bluffton Friday and Saturday, July 12-13.
Eight teams competed at the two-day event.
“We are immensely proud of all of our swimmers' accomplishments this season, and were excited to see many continue to drop time even at championships,” said the Gator coaching staff.
Ada standout swimmer Lily Baumgartner touched first in a pair of individual races on day one, then added another victory Saturday to help pace the Gators.

The 17-year old won the girls 15 and over 100-meter individual medley and also captured the 50-meter butterfly Friday. She then won the 50-meter backstroke event Saturday.
Baumgartner holds the WOAL championship meet record in the 100 IM and 50 fly, both set in 2022.
Gator Luke Harriger won a team-high five races in the boys 7-8 age division. He came in first three times Saturday, and twice on Friday.
Gator Clair Kemmere (girls 15 and over) touched first in two races.
Ada’s Olivia Agozzino won the 50-meter freestyle in the girls 11-12 age bracket, and touched second in three other events.
Landry Harriger (boys 11-12) captured one first and added two second-place finishes.
Lincoln Harriger won one event in the boys 13-14 division.
The Ada boys team finished sixth, while the Gator girls came in seventh.
Host Bluffton swept to all three titles, winning the combined, boys and girls team crowns. The Sardines were followed by Westside in second in all three, with Wapakoneta a strong third in all three.
Bluffton overcame a slight Westside lead in the girls standings after day one to win comfortably and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the summer swim squad in dominating fashion.
Wapak finished just 11.5 points behind Westside in the girls team totals.
