Trick-or-treat is Thursday; lots more Halloween events on Monday

Several Halloween-related events are planned in Ada. In fact you can dress up twice in October.

Thursday – Oct. 25 –
Trick-or-treat night in Ada, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Monday – Oct. 29 – The Ada Kiwanis Halloween parade is Monday, Oct. 29, behind the Municipal Building on Buckeye Street. Registration begins at 5:15 p.m. and the parade at 6 p.m.

• Scariest

• Most original

Bee in the balm

Yesterday's home page photo showed the large plot of bee balm blooming in the depot park. We've moved in a bit closer and actually spied a bee in the balm. Take a look for yourself, but don't get stung.

Ohio Northern University presents Band-O-Rama

 

Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents Band-O-Rama on Sunday, Oct. 28, at 4 p.m.

The Ohio Northern University Marching Band (ONUMB) offers an exciting performance to celebrate another successful season when they perform selections from their 2012 premier program, “Sound Dramas.”

Volleyball clinches No. 3 seed in upcoming OAC Tournament with victory over Wilmington

Ohio Northern clinched the No. 3 seed in next week's Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament with a 25-8, 25-12, 23-25, 25-5 victory over Wilmington Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears improve to 22-5 overall and are 5-2 in OAC action, while the Quakers fall to 7-18, 0-8.

Fourteen different ONU players registered at least one kill, led by freshman Ellie Gillespie with eight.

Northern dominated Sets 1, 2 and 4, hitting an amazing .458 collectively in those sets.

ONU hit .529 in Set 1 on nine kills in 17 attempts. Northern rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to go on an 10-1 run to take a 10-4 lead.

Ada plays Bingo on Thursdays in November

Ada Bingo plays on Thursdays at the Alumni N-men’s Building in downtown Ada. Doors open at 5:30; Bingo begins at 6:55. Ada Bingo uses new, radio-controlled electronic machines, as well as, traditional paper packages. Proceeds from Ada Bingo benefits the Ada Lion's Club and Ada Music Boosters.

Dates are Nov. 1, Nov. 8, Nov. 15, and Nov. 29.
