Ada’s annual Town and Gown Banquet to honor Distinguished Citizen of the Year

The 47th annual Ada Town and Gown Banquet will be held in the McIntosh Center ballroom on the campus of Ohio Northern University on Monday, Nov. 5, at 6:30 p.m.

 The Town and Gown Association was established in 1957 by a group of townspeople and ONU personnel to develop and maintain a strong positive relationship between the village of Ada and Ohio Northern. As with each year, the honor of Distinguished Citizen of the Year will be given to an Ada resident nominated by fellow citizens.

ONU to present ‘The Improvised Shakespeare Company’

 

Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts kicks off its studio series when it presents “The Improvised Shakespeare Company” in the Stambaugh Studio Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 7:30 p.m.

Based on one audience suggestion (a title for a play that has yet to be written), “The Improvised Shakespeare Company” creates a fully improvised Shakespearean masterpiece right before your eyes. Nothing is planned, rehearsed or written. All of the dialogue is said for the first time, the characters are created as you watch, and the story can end up anywhere.

More cash mobs...more Music on Main...in 2013

Watch for more Ada cash mobs. That’s the word from the Buy Ada First committee. After a first-ever try at a cash mob on Oct. 16 at Reichert’s, the committee hopes to do a new one each quarter.

Fred Reichert told the committee, which met on Oct. 24, that the cash mob at his Main Street store “exceeded his expectations.”

The committee hopes to hold a winter, spring summer and fall cash mob in 2013. Locations are now under consideration.

In addition to cash mobs, the committee hopes to schedule three Music on Main events next summer. One was held this past summer and was received with great success at the depot park.

Ross records hat trick as No. 7 Men's Soccer wins second consecutive OAC Regular Season Championship

Freshman Keegan Ross notched his first career hat trick to lift the No. 7 Ohio Northern men's soccer team to its second straight OAC Regular Season Championship as they defeated Wilmington by a 3-1 score.

With the win the Polar Bears improve to 17-2 overall and remain perfect with an 8-0 mark in the OAC.

The Quakers fall to 10-6-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the OAC.

A couple records were broken by Ohio Northern in game.

Senior goalkeeper Mac Church became the all-time leader in minutes played in the OAC, and Ohio Northern now holds the record for most consecutive OAC wins with 19.

Taylor Willeke plays in District 8 all-star match

Ada High School volleyball player Taylor Willeke was picked to play in the District 8 Senior All-Star volleyball match.

The match is at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Wapakoneta High School. Willeke is on the Division IV East squad.
