OHSA board okays competitive balance proposal

OHSAA Board of Directors Unanimously Approves Competitive Balance Proposal
Similar Plan from 2013 Will be Voted Upon By Membership in May

The Ohio High School Athletic Association Board of Directors has unanimously approved a Competitive Balance proposal that makes modifications on how schools are placed in tournaments in team sports. The plan, recommended to the Board from the 27-member OHSAA Competitive Balance Committee, is similar to the proposal that member schools voted upon last spring.

ONU honors distinguished engineering alumni

 

Ohio Northern University’s T.J. Smull College of Engineering honored Harold Marker and Jack Ridge with Distinguished Alumni Awards on Feb. 26.

Marker, who graduated from ONU in 1952 with a civil engineering degree, founded Thomas & Marker Construction Co. in Bellefontaine, Ohio, in 1965 after working for 12 years for a large commercial construction firm. He became the sole owner in 1983, and the company continues to grow with offices in Bellefontaine and Columbus.

Ready, Set, Grow summer camp registration underway, family night set

Ready, Set, Grow Preschool will hold a family night program “The Importance of Early Literacy,” later this spring according to Jami Dellifield. In addition, information on two summer camps is now available.

Amanda Bennett, director of the Ada Public Library, is the featured speaker during a family night. She will speak on “The importance of Early Literacy.” The program is from 6 to 7 p.m., at the preschool, 4171 State Route 235, Unit B, Ada.

Kylie Coldwell, Ada fourth grader, created this "hair brush fish" earlier this school year. It's on display in the Ada school media center.

Karen Ward: With camera in hand captures the beauty of the earth

Possibly you’ve seen her on her bike with camera in mid-air, poised in readiness for a shot. Possibly you’ve seen her reclined in her front yard discovering the best lighting and best angle for sharing the magnificence of a hollyhock or other flower. Possibly you’ve seen her at ReStore where she’s volunteered for the past 7 ½ years.

Wherever you’ve seen her, you can be sure Karen Ward was pondering, contemplating, or dreaming of how to share her love of capturing treasures with her camera just as she did as a child on family camping trips.

Dumbaugh and Sautter named HM on Northwest Conference team

Ada's Austin Dumbaugh, a senior, and Brayden Sautter, sophomore, were named honorable mention to this year's all-Northwest Conference basketball boys' team. Ada finished the season 5-16 overall and 0-8 in the NWC.

Damian Helm, Crestview, was named the NWC player of the year.
