Tuesday's weather update

Here's AEP's Tuesday afternoon storm update: A major winter storm will track into the Ohio Valley tonight. Heavy winter precipitation is expected over AEP Ohio and I&M Power, with rain for KY Power and Appalachian Power. While travel will be difficult tonight in Indiana due to snow and blowing snow, impacts for the utility will be minimal. The main concern lies across southern AEP Ohio where snow will quickly change to freezing rain tonight. By daybreak Wednesday temperatures in Southern Ohio will rise above freezing, but by then most of the precipitation will have fallen.

The Freed Center presents ‘The Things They Carried’

The Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents “The Things They Carried” by Tim O’Brien on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 9:30 a.m.

A pre- and post-show interactive discussion will be held, during which audience members can explore themes such as ethics, making choices and violence. The content of the performance is appropriate for high school audiences and older.

Ohio Northern’s BLSA Diversity Forum to focus on ‘The Importance of Diversity in the Legal and Political Fields’

The Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law’s 15th annual Diversity Forum will discuss “The Importance of Diversity in the Legal and Political Fields” in the Celebrezze Moot Court Room 129 on Friday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m.

The ONU Black Law Student Association (BLSA), in partnership with the ONU Student Bar Association, ONU Office of Multicultural Affairs, the National BLSA, the Midwest BSLA and the ONU Student Senate, is sponsoring the event.

Ohio Northern University to hold Experience ONU Day

 

Ohio Northern University welcomes high school seniors to campus for Experience ONU Day on Monday, Feb. 17. Prospective students will learn about specific Ohio Northern programs; meet with current students, faculty and staff; and attend informational admissions and financial aid sessions. A complimentary lunch and campus tour also will be provided.

Participants can immerse themselves in the total collegiate experience by visiting actual classes, talking with current students, meeting with deans and faculty members, having lunch in the dining hall, and getting a glimpse into the daily lives of ONU students. Registration for Experience ONU Day closes on Friday, Feb. 14.

Feb 16 - Welcome Home Denver QB Zac Dysert event at Ada HS

Ada's Favorite Son, Zac Dysert, will return to Ada on Sunday, Feb. 16. The event, "Welcome Home Denver Bronco's Quarterback, Zac Dysert," will be open to the public and held from 4 to 6 p.m., in the Ada High School gymnasium, according to Donald Traxler, who is planning the event.

Several parts of the program are still to be confirmed, Traxler told The Icon. "This is something that the Ada community can feel very proud to be part of," he said.

It is hoped that several of Dysert's former coaches and teammates will be on hand for the event. Watch The Icon for more details.
