Is it a three-book day?

Okay, perhaps the cold weather has affected our sense of news, but you have to admit, this graphic posted on the Ada Public LIbrary's facebook site is pretty interesting. It's an unusual way to measure the depth of a winter story.

Shakespeare’s ‘Measure for Measure’ coming to The Freed Center stage

 

The Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents William Shakespeare’s “Measure for Measure” from Thursday, Feb. 20, to Saturday, Feb. 22, at 7:30 p.m. In addition, there will be two matinee performances: Saturday, Feb. 22, and Sunday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. A post-show discussion with the company will be held after the afternoon performance on Saturday, Feb. 22.

ONU alumnus John Bishop to be inducted into OFIC Hall of Excellence

John J. Bishop, a 1972 Ohio Northern University graduate and chairman of the board of The Motorists Insurance Group, was selected as a 2014 inductee into the Ohio Foundation of Independent College Hall of Excellence.

Bishop was among four selected for the Hall and will be formally inducted at the “Evening of Excellence” on April 16 at the Renaissance Downtown Hotel in Columbus, Ohio. Joining Bishop as inductees into the Hall of Excellence are author and health and nutritionist expert Jean Carper (Ohio Wesleyan University), chairman of NVR Inc. Dwight C. Schar (Ashland University), and chairman and CEO of Thomas Properties James A. Thomas (Baldwin-Wallace University).

Here's a report from the Ada Kiwanis Club

President Heather Cox called the weekly meeting of the Ada Kiwanis Club to order at 12:00 noon on Tuesday February 4th at the New China Restaurant, downtown Ada.
Jon Umphress offered the invocation.

The following membership anniversaries were noted: Scott Wills and Joe Ferguson (January 28, 2004); Marilyn Green (February 1, 1993); and and Peter Previte (February 1, 2011).

Dr. Brian Myers was acknowledged for recently co-authoring a paper titled “A two-step, single pot procedure for the synthesis of substituted dihydropyrazolo-pyrimidines”. He was not asked to spell the word.

Good bye, Health Chek

Ada's downtown heath food and supplement store has closed, according to Alisa Armbrecht, owner. Deb Curlis will open a business in the former Health Chek location. Watch the Icon for details.
