South Main-Lima Avenue intersection closure on June 2

The reconstruction of East Lima Avenue continues to progress well. The crews will soon be reaching a point in construction where it will be necessary to close South Main Street at the Lima Avenue intersection to allow the crews to safely work on sewer lines.

This closure is planned to begin Monday, June 2. Detours will be posted for the area.

Please keep in mind your safety and the safety of the crews working. Do not move barricades or attempt to drive or walk through areas that have been marked as “closed.”

Earl Harps 1917-2014

Earl B. Harps, 96, died on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 3:30 a.m. at his residence in Ada, Ohio. He was born on May 27, 1917 in Wapakoneta, Ohio, to Dallas V. and Lillie (Truesdale) Harps and they preceded him in death. On November 22, 1937 he married Betty B. Mort and she died on January 25, 2014.

Ada bingo schedule for June

Ada Bingo plays on Thursdays at the Alumni N-men’s Building in downtown Ada. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and bingo begins at 6:55. Ada Bingo uses new radio-controlled electronic machines, as well as, traditional paper packages. Proceeds from Ada Bingo benefits the Ada Lion's Club, Ada Music Boosters and the Ada-Liberty Volunteer Fire Department

Upcoming dates include June 5, 12, 19 and 26.

Update from Ada Kiwanis Club

 

President Heather Cox called the weekly meeting of the Ada Kiwanis Club to order at 12:00 noon on Tuesday May 27 at McIntosh Center, Ohio Northern University, Ada.

Jon Umphress offered the invocation.

Member birthdays of Myrna McCurdy (May 28) and Scott Allison (May 29) were noted.

The membership anniversary of Mike Hood (June 1, 198) was also noted.

The wedding anniversary of John and Joanne Berg (May 29, 1955) was also noted.

It's all about supporting a good cause.

On May 23, employees of Liberty National Bank provided hot dogs, chips, cookies and water outside the Ada office. During this time, they were also accepting donations to Hardin County Relay For Life. They collected $240 in donations.

"Liberty National Bank would like to thank the community for their support in helping find a cure for cancer," said Heather Cox of the bank.
