Hootenannies 4-H Club meets

Pictured: Preston Brien and Laura Spradlin after giving their health and safety reports

By Faith Holbrook

The last meeting of the Hardin Co Hootenannies 4-H club was held at Preston Brien’s farm. We had 12 members present. President Megan Williams opened the meeting and asked Seth Davis to lead us in the American Flag pledge and Meadow Cromer to lead the 4-H pledge.

We decided on the colors for our T-shirts. Everyone ordered their size. They will be $8. Which is due at our next meeting. We hope to have them by the end of July for the Triathlon. All members should have paid their club dues by now.

Pear of problems

Some of Ada's Main Street ornamental pear trees are under the weather. Look closely at this tree, located on the west side of Main near the Ada Herald office. The tree, and several other on both sides of Main near this one, have what members of the Ada Tree Commission believe is a type of fire blight. The trees with this condition have chunks of brown leaves. It is possible that some of these trees may need to be replaced.

Swimmers on your mark! the season is underway
