This weather is just ducky...for ducks

With recent rains, Mary Downing has a collection of happy ducks at her place on State Route 235 just north of Ada.

The waddler with a green head is a Roueon, the brown one is his lady friend. The tan ones are Buff Ducks.

Know what a group of ducks is called? Answer: flock, brace, raft, team, paddlings.

Wilma Pitts 1940-2015

Wilma J. Haney Pitts, 74 was born in Harrod, Ohio, on Sept. 13, 1940, to LeRoy and Bonnie (Arnett) Haney who preceded her in death. One sister, Lillimae Whitaker of Kenton, Ohio, preceded her in death and one brother, Donald Haney of Lafayette, Ohio, passed the day of her death.

Multicultural fair Friday afternoon in McIntosh

Ohio Northern University will hold its annual Multicultural Fair in the McIntosh Center Activities Room on Friday, April 10, at 4 p.m. This event is a collaboration of ONU’s International Services, ONU Student Senate and seven multicultural student organizations.

The event is free and open to the public.

Have you noticed more rail traffic throughout Ada? There's a reason why

You’ve probably noticed that freight trains through Ada are more frequent, are longer and  they travel at higher speeds than you are used to. A rebirth of the line through Ada for freight happened this winter.

Norfolk Southern (NS) track resurfacing crews labored between Ft. Wayne and Bucyrus last fall and into the early winter.  The reason: A race to relieve rail traffic congestion on other lines.

NS is experiencing serious freight traffic congestion on its Chicago Line between Cleveland, Toledo and Chicago where up to 110 trains a day travel.

Manual typewriters and Ada HS office girls

Back in the days of carbon paper, manual typewriters, dial telephones and cars known as gas hogs, Ada High School had "office girls."

Here's the crew from 41 school years ago - 1973-74 school year to be exact. Do you see anyone on here that you recognize?

Donald Haney retired from Haney Piano Company

Donald R. Haney, 72, died on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 12:22 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.

He was born on June 7, 1942 in Auglaize County, Ohio to LeRoy and Bonnie (Arnett) Haney and they are deceased. He married Cheryl A. Mears on January 23, 1965, and she survives in LaFayette, Ohio.

He retired from Haney Piano Company.
