Captain America visited patrons at the Ada Public Library on Saturday. He posed here with Emily and Landon Long of Ada. Actually, the captain is in the library most of the summer, if you want a photo taken with him.

It's "after hours" Monday at The Inn at ONU - and you are invited

The next Hardin County Chamber & Business Alliance "Business After Hours" will be in Ada, according to Jon Cross, of the chamber and business alliance.

It is Monday, June 8, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at The Inn at Ohio Northern University. 

Alliance staff will host extended community office hours to welcome the general public to exchange ideas, discuss business and community needs and answer any questions about the Alliance activities, programs and events.

"No RSVP, no agenda and no suits, ties or fancy attire are required," said Cross. "We look forward to seeing you at The Inn at Ohio Northern University.

Liberty Belles and Boys 4-H Club "support drive" Saturday AM

The Liberty Belles and Boys 4-H Club will hold “support drive” from 9 to 11:30 a.m., Saturday, June 6, in the Hays Insurance parking lot on Main Street, Ada.

The drive supports both the Hardin County Humane Society and the Ada Food Pantry.

Here’s what you may donate:

• Canned goods for the Ada Food Pantry.

• Sheets, blankets, towels and regular Pine-Sol Cleaner and for the Hardin County Humane Society.

Cadets' give free Ada concert on June 14

The Cadets, one of the oldest and most honored continuously operating drum and bugle corps in the country, will perform at Ohio Northern University’s Dial-Roberson Stadium on Sunday, June 14 at 8 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. Visitors should park at Wander Field due to construction on Klingler Road.

The nationally renowned corps will present its 2015 production, “The Power of Ten.” The program includes excerpts from Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10 and the movie “Mulholland Drive.”

Phyllis Scott was a 1954 graduate of McGuffey High School

Phyllis Carol (Puckett) Scott, 78, died on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at 5:59 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health Systems, Lima.

She was born on Aug. 8, 1936, in McGuffey, Ohio, to Lark and Rebecca (Hackworth) Puckett who preceded her in death. On April 14, 1956, in Harrod, Ohio, she married Elmer Lee Scott and he preceded her in death on June 19, 2004.

Phyllis was a homemaker. She attended the Alger First United Methodist Church, Alger. She led a Wednesday evening Bible study in her home. She was a 1954 graduate of McGuffey High School and attended Ohio Northern University, Ada. She enjoyed meeting with her 1954 McGuffey High School classmates monthly.
