Letter: Red Cross 2015 Learn To Swim Program invites volunteers to assist

Summer is here and so has the time for Red Cross Swimming Lessons! As in past years the Ada Learn To Swim Program is in need of aides to assist with the lessons.

Ages 12 and up, including adults are encourage to sign up to help others learn swimming
skills. As little as an hour each day of lessons is helpful. Lessons begin the week of July 6  for two weeks Monday through Friday each week.

Help is needed on deck for paperwork as well as in the water.  You do not need to be a good swimmer to help others...we'll help you as well:)

Here's this year's Ada Lions Club Ada HS scholarship award winners

The Ada Lions Club has donated $60,000 to 67 students since their first scholarship were awarded in 2000.   

Projects like the Ada Lions Club Mulch Project has been one of the many projects that have funded this great community project. A committee of Lions members select the Ada High School students for these awards.

ONU announces hiring of vice president of university advancement

Ohio Northern University President Daniel A. DiBiasio has announced the hiring of Shannon Spencer as vice president for university advancement at Ohio Northern University, effective July 6.

Spencer, who is currently assistant vice president for development at Bowling Green State University, replaces Kenneth Block, who will retire from his position after more than 14 years at ONU, with the last five as vice president for university advancement.

The Inn at ONU will host June 8 Hardin "Business After Hours"

The next Hardin County Chamber & Business Alliance "Business After Hours" will be in Ada, according to Jon Cross, of the chamber and business alliance.

It is Monday, June 8, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at The Inn at Ohio Northern University.  

Alliance staff will host extended community office hours to welcome the general public to exchange ideas, discuss business and community needs and answer any questions about the Alliance activities, programs and events.

June 11 "lunch and learn" focus on relieving summer aches and pains

Community Health Professionals will hold a "lunch and learn" from noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, June 11, at its 1200 S. Main St. building, according to Deb Curliss.

The program title "Relieving summer aches and pains," is free and open to the public. The program is sponsored by Liberty National Bank of Ada. The program includes summer-tune up suggestions from FABrehab Services.

Participants will receive a box lunch at no cost, and donations are welcome. Donations will go to CHP hospice patience care fund.
