Pat Crist, a Customer Service Representative in the Ada office at Liberty National Bank, recently announced her retirement.

Crist has been with Liberty National Bank for 18 ½ years.

"Pat will be greatly missed by her co-workers and many customers," said Heather Cox, Liberty National Bank director of marketing.

Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding...here comes a fast freight through Ada

The Ada Icon is fascinated by trains, as most viewers know. On Dec. 2 two Icon photographers captured this freight coming east from Lima.

Our photo essay includes still photos of the advancing and then passing freight.

In addition, we took a video of the train, which was pulling oil cars - we lost track of the number - in a fast freight through Ada.

The former mainline Pennsylvania Railroad through Ada is one a single-track Indiana and Ohio Railway, which is part of the Genese & Wyoming short line system.

Ruth is ready for this weekend's Candy Cane Tour

Photo and story by Monty Siekerman
Ruth Roider sets a candy cane tree on the piano as she decorates her house for the Candy Cane Tour.

Ruth's two-story home, built about 1905, will feature a number of trees because she loves trees. However, only one tree will be lit.

Among the decorations found on trees will be one with 150 mice. She has collected the mice, inanimate ones, of course, since she was a child. When young, she would accompany her father, Karl, on ONU music tours of Europe. He was chair of the music department for many years.
