2016 appropriations on Tuesday council agenda

Ada council meets on Tuesday. The agenda includes the final reading of the 2016 appropriations ordinance plus legislation to vacate an alley.

Think sand beaches far to the south - there's a calypso concert on Dec. 1

These shiny instruments will soon be sounding out happy music, Caribbean/calypso style.

The ONU Steel Drum concert is slated for 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1 in Presser Hall. It's free and open to the public.

For a few minutes anyway, the music will transport you from chilly Ada to a pink sand beach far to the south, if you use your imagination. (Monty Siekerman)

Chamber event in Depot

It was Small Business Saturday in Ada on Nov. 28. Several small business vendors displayed their services and products in the Depot, including this artist who paints scenes of Ada. The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored the event.

Santa hangs out at New Leaf - enjoy our photo album with lots of decorating ideas

Santa and all his friends hang out at New Leaf. The shop, north of Ada, is beautifully decorated for Christmas and offers lots of holiday decorating supplies.

It offers cut Christmas trees, poinsettias and Christmas cactus.

Santa showed the Icon around the shop earlier this week.

New Leaf Christmas season hours are:
Mondays-Fridays 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sundays Noon to 4 p.m.

Ada chamber says "Come downtown to celebrate Small Business Saturday"

Small Business Saturday is Nov. 28 and the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce has several reasons to bring shoppers to downtown.

60 new coats

The Knights of Columbus in Kenton gave ReStore in Ada 60 new coats to distribute. Here, Linda Dearth shows some of the remaining coats to give to those in need. The supply of jackets flew out the window during the first cold snap. ReStore is in need of more new coats, especially ones for young children, if you are inclined to contribute.
