Youth at First United Methodist filling shoeboxes for a good Christmas cause; and you can assist

A small shoe box can have a big impact. 

Youth at First United Methodist Church, Ada, are discovering that this month by their participation in Operation Christmas Child.

The youth group at the church will collect these shoe boxes until Nov. 22. The boxes can be left at the church 'Front Porch' area (reception area in front of church).  The doors to the church are open until 4 p.m. weekly. Please enter through the back doors. 

To assist persons in filling these boxes and for specific age levels please see guidelines on the table in the Front Porch area of the church.

Our Lady of Lourdes Veterans Day bazaar planned

Our Lady of Lourdes annual bazaar will be on Veterans Day, Wednesday. Nov. 11, at the church located at 300 E. Highland.

Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The popular pre-Christmas event, held in November for many years, also features handcrafted items, a bake sale, a raffle, and theme baskets, such as movie night or camping.

ONU Habitat pancake brunch/lunch Nov. 15

The ONU Habitat for Humanity is having an all you can eat pancake brunch/lunch at Ada First United Methodist Church on Sunday, Nov. 15 from 11:15 a.m. to 2 pm.

Cost is $5 per person. The event is open to the public.

All proceeds will go to ONU Habitat for Humanity.

Scarlet Raven Christian band performs at Alger Assembly of God

Scarlet Raven, a Christian hard rock band from northern Indiana, will perform at 6 p.m. on Sunday. Nov. 1, at Alger Assembly of God.

Doors open at 5 p.m.

The performance is free. A love offering will be taken. Members of the group will sing original songs and give testimonies.

99 quilts - everyone with a story or interesting history - in First United Methodist display

Ninety-nine quilts were displayed at the First United Methodist Church on Sunday afternoon.

Most quilts tell a story or have a story about their history.
 Many types of quilts were shown, including crazy quilts, appliqued, counted cross stitch, and pieced.
 

Quilts ranged in size from wall hangings to king size. In addition to quilts being practical, they are artistic expressions, heirlooms and beautiful.

Quilt show Sunday at First United Methodist

Ada First United Methodist Church invites Icon viewers to a quilt show at the church this weekend.

The show is from 1 to 3 p.m., sponsored by the United Methodist Women. Refreshments will be served.
