Ada hosts rival Mustangs in finale October 22

Ada entertains backyard arch-rival Allen East Friday, October 22, in the season finale for the Bulldogs. 

AE (6-3, 4-2 NWC) lost at Leipsic in week nine, 26-14. The Mustangs are second in the Div. VI, Region 24 computer rankings, behind only unbeaten Mechanicsburg.

"Allen East is a very talented and well-coached team," said Ada head coach Toby Smith. "We will have to be on top of our game in order to slow them down.

"Offensively, we will need to take care of the football and execute well so that we can keep their explosive offense (32.3 ppg) off of the field.

Bulldog CC runs in league meet

Four Ada cross country runners competed at the wet and chilly Northwest Conference championship meet Saturday morning, October 16, in Van Wert.

"It was a wet and cold meet, something we haven't seen this season," said Bulldog head coach Josh Klein.

Bulldog senior Riley Ferguson led the Ada boys by finishing 58th in a time of 22:02.986. 

Freshman Kaleb Couch crossed the finish line 68th in 24:14.317.

"Riley and Kaleb had a good race, but we added time for the other two," said Klein.

Junior Tristen Dalton ended up 75th with a time of 31:49.

Senior Hunter Sidle of Allen East finished first in the 76-runner boys race in 17:07.661.

Ada gridders battle Crestview

Visiting Ada fought Crestview but lost 38-7 in a Northwest Conference grid contest that was closer than the final score indicates Friday night, October 15.

The game was scoreless after one period of play, but then Crestview began to pull away from the pesky Bulldogs with 18 second-quarter points.

Ada also held Crestview scoreless for most of the third period before two touchdowns in the final 2:17 of the quarter blew the game open.

The Bulldogs fell to 1-8 and 0-6 in the NWC with the defeat.

Crestview improved to 6-3 and 3-3 in league play with the win.

Ada boys cage Thunderbirds

The visiting Ada boys soccer team handled Lima Central Catholic 4-1 Monday night, October 11, at Spartan Stadium.

The Bulldogs improved to 5-7-3 overall with the non-league victory. LCC fell to 4-9 after the defeat.

Logan Jolliff tallied one goal and passed out two assists to lead the Bulldog offense. 

Carter Conley, Drew Long and Carson Gossard each scored one goal.

Ada keeper Colton Long made three saves in goal.

Wildcat girls down Ada kickers

The Ada girls soccer team lost to visiting Delphos Jefferson 6-3 in a Northwest Conference match Monday evening, October 11, at War Memorial Stadium.

The Lady Bulldog record dropped to 2-9-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the NWC after the defeat.

The Wildcat girls improved to 5-7-3 and 2-3-1 in the NWC with the win.

DJ led 4-0 at halftime, but Ada bounced back to outscore the Wildcats 3-2 after intermission.

Ella Marshall netted two goals for Ada, while Olivia Burkhart tallied the other goal. 

Bulldog boys seeded sixth at Tiffin; Bluffton 1st

The Ada boys soccer team was voted a six seed at the 12-team Tiffin Columbian sectional/district draw Sunday, October 10.

The Bulldogs (5-7-3) host ninth seed Elmore Woodmore (3-10-2) Wednesday, October 20 at 5 p.m. in sectional first round action.

The winner advances to play in the second round at fifth-seeded Cory-Rawson (7-6-3) Saturday, Oct. 23 at 4 p.m.

Ada beat visiting C-R by a 4-1 count September 22.

Bluffton (10-3-1) is the top seed and received a first round bye. Van Buren (10-2-2) was seeded second, with Mansfield Christian (9-5-1) voted third.
