Darlene G. Tarr was an EMT for 30 years

Darlene G. Tarr, age 91, of Ada, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Lima Memorial Health System. 

She was born on March 14, 1931, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to the late Isaac and Mahala (Neeley) Fitzpatrick. On November 13, 1948 Darlene married Roger I. Tarr and he preceded her in death on June 21, 2012.

Darlene is survived by her two daughters: Marilyn Nelson of Lima and Carol (Victor) Jones of Ada; a son-in-law, Michael Dudgeon of Ada; four grandchildren: Bonnie (Bill) Edgin, Brad (Theresa) Jones, Rod (Brooke) Dudgeon and Deana (Jamie) Basinger; seven great grandchildren: Samantha (Alex) Witten, Rachel Wildman, Braden Jones, Andrew Jones, Alexis Jones, Cora Basinger and Ella Basinger; four step great grandchildren: Kyle Edgin, Zack Edgin, Laurie Bassett and Kenzie Bassett; and a sister, Marge (Howard) Runser of Bridgeman, MI.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Dudgeon; and step great grandson, Brady Bassett.

Scholarship winners to be announced

HARDIN COUNTY--The Hardin County Cattle Producers will hold their annual Beef Banquet on Saturday, March 25 in  the Community Building at the fairgrounds, starting at 6:30 pm. Pre-sale tickets are $20 ($25 at the door), kids ages  6 and under are free, and 2022 Hardin County Junior Fair Beef Barn Exhibitors are free with a reservation given to  any Cattle Producers Director or the Hardin County OSU Extension office. 

Sharon Kay Fields worked for Ohio Northern

Sharon Kay Fields, age 81, of Ada, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Blanchard Place, Kenton.

Sharon was born on October 28, 1941, in Kenton, Ohio to Carl and Freda (Kaeck) Mabrey.  Her father preceded her in death.  Her mother and step-father, Jim Glock, also preceded her in death.  She was previously married to Glenn Fields, who preceded her in death.

Baby quilt donation by local Soroptimist International

Soroptimist International of Kenton/Hardin County donated hand made baby quilts to Safe Haven of Hardin County.

University surveys graduates on job placement

The most recent full-time job and graduate school placement rates for Ohio Northern University students who graduated in 2022 was at 96%, holding relatively steady compared to the 2021 placement rate of 97%. The numbers are derived from a survey of the most recent graduates, 95% of whom responded.
