Heath Jackson scores first-ever TD reception in BGSU win over U of Mass

Heath Jackson, Ada High School graduate and BGSU red-shirt junior wide receiver, scored his first ever touchdown reception for the Falcons in their 28-7 homecoming win over the University of Massachusetts Minutemen at Doyt L. Perry Stadium. 

The Falcons are now 5-1 on the season and 3-0 in the Mid American Conference, East Division.  The homecoming crowd of 13,799 witnessed a stingy BG defense with the Minutemen scoring their only touchdown late in the fourth quarter against the second string defense.

Men's soccer: Bears falls to Capital 2-0

The No. 11 Ohio Northern men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 contest to Capital on Wednesday afternoon at the ONU Soccer Field.

The Polar Bears fall to 9-3-0 on the season and 1-1-0 in OAC play, while the Crusaders improve to 4-4-3, 1-1-0.

ONU had a chance to strike early in the 12th minute.

Senior Jeremy Barnes  dribbled into the box and rocketed a shot that hit the crossbar.

Freshman Matt Kinkopf  was able to get the rebound and fire a shot, but his attempt was saved by Capital goalie Bob Weisgarber.

Volleyball: Balanced attack lifts ONU over Wooster

Ten different players registered kills as the Ohio Northern volleyball team swept Wooster 25-9, 25-15, 26-24 Wednesday night at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears improve to 12-7 overall, while the Scots fall to 5-16.

The match was the final non-conference contest of the regular season for ONU.

Sophomore Ellie Gillespie  and Anna Ricker  and freshman Kelli Weininger  each had six kills to lead a balanced ONU offensive attack.

In all, 14 different Polar Bears saw action and 10 had kills and seven had four kills or more.

Off comes the corn

Corn is coming off the field just north of State Route 30 (see the semi in the background). After a rainy weekend fields have dried out enough for some farmers to return to their harvest.
