United Way at 90% of 2021 goal

The United Way of Hardin County is at 90% of the $155,000 fundraising goal for 2021.

When you give to the campaign, you support 19 partner agencies. You can also designate money to go directly to your favorite agency.

Ada receives $218K water infrastructure grant

On December 7, the third round of Ohio BUILDS Water Infrastructure Grant Projects were announced including:

Ada (Hardin County) will receive a $ 218,250 grant to cover the planning and engineering design for a project that will implement necessary improvements needed at the drinking water plant to comply with EPA guidelines and recommendations and OSHA standards due to undersized, failing, or obsolete equipment. This project will benefit 5,544 people.

Ada leaf pickup extended

Leaf collection will extend one extra week for Fall 2021. Village crews will be out for one last pick up in your designated area December 6 to 10.

If you choose to rake and bag leaves, village crews will pick up bagged leaves as well. Please call the Municipal Building at 419-634-4045 option 1 to schedule a bagged leaf pick up.

The Liberty Township trustee meeting for December 6 has been cancelled due to lack of a quorum, according to Patty Griffin, Liberty Township Fiscal Officer.

Fire, EMS responded to fire at 220 S. Gilbert on December 4

UPDATED 1:15 p.m., Dec. 5.

A first alarm structure fire emergency at 220 S. Gilbert St. (at Ballard) was called in to Hardin County dispatchers on December 4.

Ada Police Chief Michael A. Harnishfeger issued the following report on the house fire and resulting drug investigation.

"On Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 6:13 p.m. the Ada Liberty Fire Department and the Ada Police Department were dispatched to 220 S. Gilbert Street, a 3-unit apartment house on a report of an active fire.

Scholarships for college Juniors and Seniors from Hardin Co.

The Hardin County University Club II has announced that the club's scholarship award applications are now available, according to Adeline Terry, 2021-2022 president.

Each year, University Club II awards one $1,000 scholarship to a graduate from any of the Hardin County High Schools who is currently a college junior or senior. Since 1964 the club has given over $36,000 to assist students finishing their junior or senior year in college.
