Have a great Fourth of July weekend - from the Icon

Here's a patriotic Ada post card from the past

Letter to Icon viewers:

The Icon wishes all viewers a happy and long Fourth of July weekend.

Our own celebration begins a little early, as we will take a few days off between now and the first of the week. Don’t worry, stories will continue to appear, just on a slower schedule. And, some of the regular weekly features are taking the week off.

In the meantime, here's a patriotic post card showing the "Soldiers Monument and Pennsylvania Railroad Depot in Ada." The post card mailed Sept. 11, 1914, from Ada to Findlay from Mina Klingler to Harry Hahn in Findlay.

Just the kind of July in Ada that you'd expect

It’s not Ada’s typical July.

Last year’s covid moved Ada to a screeching halt. This is a new year and traditional summer events have returned.

July begins on Friday with two major activities, unrelated, but both carrying Fourth of July weekend themes.

Ohio Northern University will hold its Lima Symphony Orchestra patriotic pops concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 2, on the university sculpture mall.

Not connected to the pops concert is a community fireworks display at dusk – announced to start at 9:45 p.m. – in the Ada park.
