Ada Historical Society meets Jan. 27

Due to the Martin Luther King Day today Ada Historical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting Monday, Jan. 27, at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room at the Ada Public Library, 320 N. Main Street, Ada.

SweetNotes holding auditions through Jan. 27

SweetNotes is holding auditions now through Monday, Jan. 27, according to Vicki Mills.  

SweetNotes, the women's division, of Noteworthy Community Choir, rehearses from  Jan. 27 to March 16 with a March 19 evening performance and additional community performances.   

SweetNotes invites all interested singers to audition. Contact Mills at [email protected] or through www.noteworthycc.org to schedule the audition.

Want to be an Ada cheerleader?

Preschoolers to 6th graders will cheer on Feb. 14

Attention all preschoolers all the way up to sixth grader who want to be a cheerleader.

This winter’s Ada basketball cheerleading clinic is set for three afternoons in February and sign-up deadline is Friday, Jan. 24.

Here’s the details:
Clinics are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 11-12-13, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Participants will meet in the school cafeteria and then go to the 1986 gymnasium for practices.

The cheerleading participants will learn several cheerleading skills including motion, jumps, chants, cheers and dances.

Ada Rotary invites teams to compete in Super Bowl bowling battle

Ada Rotary Club invites organizations to enter its 6th annual  Kevin Mierzejewski Super Bowl battle of Ada organizations bowling event, according to Jami Hall, president. 

Bowling is Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Norada Lanes. Only eight teams are admitted.

Registration is $100 per team with five members on a team. Registration includes three games of bowling, shoes, one large pizza and one pitcher of soft drinks.

A 50/50 raffle takes place in addition to door prizes throughout the evening.

Ada Community Improvement Corp. meets Wednesday

Ada Community Improvement Corp. (CIC) will hold its first meeting of 2020 on Wednesday at noon in the Ada depot, according to Eileen Peterman, secretary of the CIC.

The 2020 CIC meetings are Jan. 15, April 15, July 15, Oct. 21 and Dec. 16. Meetings are at noon in the Ada depot.

What is “CIC”?
Ada CIC is “a corporation for the sole purpose of advancing, encouraging, and promoting industrial, economic, commercial and civic development of our Ada Community and Area.”

State Route 309 intersections west of Ada targeted for redesign

ODOT proposals shared at Allen East public meeting on Jan. 22

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1 will hold a public meeting to share proposed safety improvements for the intersections of state Route 309 at both Thayer and Napoleon roads, east of Lima­.

The meeting is  at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 22,in the cafeteria at Allen East Local High School, 9105 Harding Highway, Harrod.

The meeting will begin with a presentation, followed by an open discussion and questions from the public. Several exhibits of the proposed improvements will be available for viewing following the presentation. The meeting is expected to conclude by 8 p.m.
