Ada depot park will now be closed to the public from dusk to dawn

As a result of vandalism to the Ada depot, Ada’s council moved to close the depot park from dusk to dawn. The action took place at Tuesday’s council meeting.
According to Michael Harnishfeger, police chief, the depot was vandalized on Aug. 18 with graffiti. Words and images were spray painted on the depot. In addition, random vehicles in the community were also hit by vandalism.
The police have two juvenile suspects and charges against them will be filed in Hardin County Juvenile Court, according to Harnishfeger.

Two fatal motor vehicle crashes have been recorded in Hardin County within 24 hours, according to the Hardin County Sheriff's office. The department provide the following details:
Two-vehicle head-on accident
At 12:22 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 26, the county dispatch was notified of a two-vehicle head-on crash on County Road 75 south of Ohio Route 67W in McDonald Township, which claimed the life of Joseph R. Moore, 56, of rural Kenton.
The crash occurred when Moore’s southbound vehicle drove into the path of a northbound truck and trailer operated by Keith Elsasser, 68, of Kenton. Elsasser was not injured.

Ada police responded to an attempted theft reported at 313 W. Lima Ave., Unit B, on Aug. 25. The report was called in at 9:56 p.m.
And on Aug. 22, police responded to a call of a loud party including a large crowd that the report stated put everyone involved at risk due to covid-19. The call was received at 10:30 p.m. and the complaint was at 125 S. Gilbert St.

Ada police were alerted that a security light on Grandview Boulevard was shot out. AEP was on the scene repairing the light. The call to police took place at 10:04 a.m. on Aug. 18. The report stated that someone shot out a security light and the caller wanted to Ada police to be aware of it.

On Aug. 11 the Hardin County Crime task force executed a search warrant at 520 W. Franklin St., Kenton.
The search resulted in the discovery and removal of a methamphetamine lab. Also, during the search several stolen items were recovered. Criminal tools were also discovered and confiscated. The matter remains under investigation.
The sheriff’s office, Kenton Police and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and identification assisted the task force at the scene.

Ada police received an animal call on Aug. 11. The call recorded at 3:39 a.m. concerned a raccoon that was stuck between an air conditioner and a window screen at Unit 12, 540 E. Lincoln Ave.
